All the dirt you could possibly want, 21 Jun 2001
Anthony Summers (and Robyn Swann (sic?)) have done it again. This covers, Nixon's life up to his resignation, his deals with the CIA and the Mafia, black bag jobs, assassinations, drug abuse, wife beating and a whole lot more. An excellent read and a great companion piece to Oliver Stone's epic film.

If you only read one book on the JFK murder, read this, 21 Jun 2001
This is perhaps the best single volume look at the conspiracy to kill JFK. It covers, the CIA, army intelligence (an obvious oxymoron!), the FBI, Cuban exiles, extreme right wingers, Dallas oil men, Mexico, Russia and more.

Gangsta rap for hardcore prison drama, 21 Jun 2001
"Oz" is perhaps the best TV drama ever made, from HBO, the channel that brought us The Sopranos. Oz is not for the weak-spirited and the soundtrack reflects that. There is some lame filler, but not much. If you like ICE-T, Public Enemy, Ice Cube or the Wu Tang Clan (who feature on the album, as does Snoop Dogg), you'll like this.

J'acuse the establishment!, 21 Jun 2001
Certainly one of the best films of the 1990s and possibly one of the best ever made. An all-star cast impeccably delivers one of the most dramatic and challenging scripts ever written, topped off with Oliver Stone's usual visual flair. To compliment this, try reading Anthony Summers's book "Conspiracy" and Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty's book "JFK: The CIA, Vietnam and the Plot to Assassinate John F. Kennedy".

Dense, name and fact-filled reference book., 4 Jun 2001
Professor Peter Dale Scott's book is a terrific reference book - and that's how it should be understood. This is not a book that you read through from beginning to end, but rather, a connect-the-dots analysis of the underside of American politics, that you dip into. Most revealing is his analysis of the Mafia, illustrating with facts and quotes, how the CIA essentially breathed life into the Mafia story, creating a useful, if fictional scapegoat of the foreign conspiracy.

Insider's eye view of Mafia life, 31 May 2001
This book, whilst gripping reading, is of debatable authenticity. The problem is that we never know, opinion from fact ie Sam Giancana claims "credit" for Jack Kennedy's murder. However, the Mafia were always in a subordinate role to the CIA, so when Giancana boasts of his ties to the Vatican, Shah of Iran, or the murder of Jack Kennedy, we do not know if this is macho bragging or the truth. For a better analysis of the Mafia's impact in the US, see Professor Peter Dale Scott's classic book, Deep Politics and the Death of JFK.
