Very clever technology. A pity it doesn't come as mains in addition to battery but it is very efficient, especially the beard trimmer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent Manchester buses, 10 Feb. 2015

I grew up in Manchester and the range of bus colours was fantastic. What a pity they all disappeared. A great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Generous George, 10 Feb. 2015
A brilliant complete archive of one of the greatest entertainers of all time. If you like George Formby then this is a chance to hear all his lesser-known recordings. A generous bargain boxed set which no Formby fan should be without.

Cork - Through the Looking Glass
Cork - Through the Looking Glass

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant rarity, 13 Nov. 2014
This is gentle music by a gentleman. It is now a rarity and worth collecting. Peter Cork inspired Dudley Moore and composed many works during his time as a schoolteacher then as a full time composer for the BBC and others. If you want crash bang wallop then you won't find it here but if you want music inspired by the countryside then you definitely will.

3.0 out of 5 stars damaged in transit, 3 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had to return the first bike because it had been damaged in transit with little or no resistance to the pedals. The second one is OK but I am surprised there is no really difficult resistance to the pedals which means it would be no good for a serious cyclist. It doesn't matter for me, though, because I am an OAP only interested in gentle exercise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Granville Bantock CD, 20 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This CD "The Song of Songs" by Sir Granville Bantock has been in my CD player numerous times since receiving it. Although supposedly second hand it's virtually new and I was very pleased to get it as it had been deleted some years ago. My main reason for buying it was because it contained recordings made specifically for the Paxton Mood Music Library of Bantock's works that he'd written for the brothers who ran the company and also these original 78rpm discs had been recorded by Levy's Sound Studios which had a unique sound. Excellent!

Manchester City Ruined My Life
Manchester City Ruined My Life

4.0 out of 5 stars Manchester City Ruined My Life, 18 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The second half of Colin Shindler's autobiography, this is a worthy successor to "Manchester United Ruined My Life" which was eventually televised. In it the author wears his heart on his sleeve and weaves his topsy-turvy family life around his love of Manchester City. Sadly, he has fallen out with the nouveau riche foreign owners who have caused City to become top dogs in Manchester - at least for the present - making the point that all sport now seems to be dominated by money. Who would disagree? Another compelling read.

A great account of a great achievement of a father and son rowing across the Atlantic for charity. Highly recommended for all interested in adventure with everyone pulling together (forgive the pun) in a remarkable manner.
