4.0 out of 5 stars Right back on track, 7 April 2013

This was just what I was waiting for. The new series has the same humor, from the same genius cast as season 1-8. The actors work together like a very well oiled machine. I am happy they did not try to reinvent Red Dwarf. Just like before the new episodes had me laughing out loud as I was reminded that scifi and humor go very well together

4.0 out of 5 stars For a quick fix, 10 Oct. 2011
The good thing about an audio drama is that you can hear all the characters' voices. It beats the simple audiobooks read by only one of 'em. And because of the long wait for "Miracle day" on DVD these three adventures are great to satisfy the Torchwood thirst. The devil and Miss Carew gives the Torchwood spin on the old "making a deal with the devil" story. It slowly builds the story and completely ensnares you. With submission the Torchwood team prove they can bring to life a submarine environment in an audio drama. I liked the atmosphere better than the story. In the House of the dead story we see (or rather: hear) Ianto Jones and it is a delight to experience his interaction with Jack again. They saved the best for last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch together with season 4!, 1 Sept. 2011
This review is from: Primeval Series 5 [DVD] (DVD)
I like gifts. Especially unexpected ones like the restart of Primeval. The new series 4 and 5 use the elements that worked from earlier seasons and filled in the blanks with credible, enjoyable and amazingly good elements. Focus on the dinos, addictive story arc and two discs of thoroughly enjoyable scifi tv.

many differences with other stargate shows. only the stargate in common. This is a kids show with short action packed episodes and only simple stories.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet, 17 Aug. 2010
This box contains four Torchwood stories. Knowledge of the Torchwood universe is required to enjoy these. But then the stories mirror against your experience and recreate the buzz of watching an episode (or two).
"Lost souls" is interesting but not as thoroughly set up as the other stories. Compensation is found in the presence of Martha Jones. The LHC at CERN has punched a hole in the universe during testing and something came through. Now the scientists want to start it up at full power. "Asylum" is about finding out who a lost girl is. Nice story with a twist. "Golden Age" is the one I enjoyed the most. A bit of history for Jack, an impossible phenomenon and the team is challenged but emerge victorious (duh) though not unaffected. "The deadline" then is somewhat simpler mystery story. But still all are very much Torchwood.

3.0 out of 5 stars Trying to improve and succeeding, 25 Sept. 2009
This review is from: Primeval - Series 3 [DVD] (DVD)
I like the way these brits handle scifi. Dinosaurs are always fun (if the quality of animation is sufficient; which it is!) But the producers rightly felt they could not continue the same way as season 1 & 2 (How many times can you tell the same story?) But while exploring the new story elements the makers actually get most of them right! This season just didn't give enough time to choose the way forward and settle in but I for one are convinced that it could have worked. Oh well, it is unfortunate that the choice in the end fell on creating a multiseason season story arc just when it was decided to axe this series. But who ever said life was fair?
Season three delivers 10 episodes that are well worth watching more than once.
We will just have to finish the story using our imagination.

A Town Called Eureka - Season 2 - Complete [DVD]
A Town Called Eureka - Season 2 - Complete [DVD]
Dvd ~ Colin Ferguson
Price: £10.00

4.0 out of 5 stars wellcome back!, 25 Sept. 2009
Eureka is the kind of science fiction that you can even watch with Scifi-haters. The quality of season 1 is maintained. All high quality episodes, more focus on Zoe, new love interest for Carter and even Beverly Barlowe returns when the artifact story arc is concluded.
This science fiction series wins over all others by focussing on people's reactions to amazing science rather than the marvellous inventions (and accidents) themselves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Darko revival, 25 Sept. 2009
This review is from: S. Darko [DVD] (DVD)
S.Darko attracted me because I liked Donnie Darko. And the feel of the movie is the same. It is clear that "Donnie" was thoroughly analysed by the production crew. And then Briana and Daveigh are beautiful young actresses well worth watching.
Off course the story doesn't add up. All the elements are there but they failed to knit it together. Still I liked watching the valiant effort to recreate Donnie Darko's universe (if that is at all possible) and will watch it again.

3.0 out of 5 stars less is more, 22 Mar. 2009
The idea of this collection is "back to basics" . The stories are more important than the form and though this is the essence of gold scifi the stories chosen do not have sufficient substance to make the episodes excel. I know I Am spoilt with all the good fx that are around but I was disappointed in more than one story. Still there is some good acting in the episode of the worker that escapes the factory and than faces judgement by a machine. I think this is reasonable but not super and if you can enjoy good moments and not let too simple endings spoil them then there is no objection to watching this.
