1.0 out of 5 stars NO DATA, NO DIAGRAM, NO HELP, 9 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
VERY DISAPPOINTED - NO INSTRUCTIONS AND NO WIRING DIAGRAM - why should I have to remove screws and then push out pin and then start soldering? I just want a simple switch for a floor lamp and so where are the IN/OUT leads? For me the ultimate chocolate teapot - what is wrong with having a simple wiring diagram? I just want to wire a floor lamp but will not do so until I know what I am doing. Delivery fine - information dreadful.

3.0 out of 5 stars COLOUR CODE PROBLEMS, 7 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The major problem for me was not lack of quality but the fact that the colours did not correspond to the older ones. So I could never REALLY know what I was doing, although in the end it is now servicing my router. It is a great shame that the colour coding is not standardised. It turned a relatively easy job into a kind of guessing game. But it works fine in he end and I was relieved

4.0 out of 5 stars NEARLY PERFECT, 15 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Book was fine and arrived on time, but was sadly lacking in its wrapping - it's a softback and was only enclosed in a single plastic bag, nothing else - a great shame. Infinitely better if you had built the cost of a padded bag onto the price. The chord marks may have been caused by the Post Office but who knows? Lovely to have the book though and I am only trying to help....

2.0 out of 5 stars GREAT MACHINE CHRONIC INFORMATION ETC, 12 Sept. 2014
Again, more frustration from CANON. Taking delivery of this machine just suggests that everything is good about it. Exquisitely made and doubtless a fine performer. However, Canon WILL insist on this business of backing up a machine like this with pitiful data and information. The loading of the print head is confusing and somewhat tricky and after struggling not to damage the carrier by forcing its assembly it looked perfectly good. But the cartridges would not go in and so it was probably not "snug" in its seating. So you switch off and take the cartridge of the first colour to try to load and the machine takes the print-head carrier across to the right and out of access. No matter, check the manual and, again, it is one written in two dozen languages and when trying to find out more you get this breezy message on your computer that insists on a QUICK SET GUIDE, and not a proper Manual at all. I have no doubt whatsoever this is a fine printer, but why do Canon do this at every opportunity? I would be perfectly happy to spend an extra fiver to have PROPER information but it is not to be had. The cartridge is stuck in the right hand area of the carriage and won't come out and so, having looked forward to this, I am none the wiser Brilliant machine, chronic back-up and information - I'll just switch off and leave it or else damage something and its most disappointing....

2.0 out of 5 stars EASY TO USE - DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND, 12 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An obscure and difficult unit to use, backed up with poor information. It gives me a print-out that has a blank line down the middle of the typeface on Proof printing and when switched to high quality the heads are completely out of alignment. On running the calibration tests nothing changes - it was quite literally a waste of money, when I am confident that it is an excellent machine. It would have been infinitely preferable if Canon did not send me information in German, Chinese, Hungarian, or Turkish and 20 or more other languages, but concentrate on English instead and offer a REAL handbook, with listed details on problem solving. To produce a machine like this and then not offer first-rate technical information is most regrettable. I think it is almost certainly a brilliant machine but it is almost impossible to calibrate it or fix elementary printing problems - most disappointing, and I have now lost interest. What is the point of that?

5.0 out of 5 stars SUPERB, 6 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Both the service and the transaction were superb and precisely what I had hoped for. The turn-around was rapid and the item came within 24hrs of ordering, extremely well packed and protected. As for the item, the ability to check through several versions of this type of equipment was invaluable through the REVIEWS page on Amazon and was selected entirely on this basis. When it arrived the item did EXACTLY what I wanted and allowed me immediately to examine information on three Hard Drives that I had kept when my computer gave up the ghost. This data is now available for transference to my new Apple Mac and I am delighted with both the item as the rapid delivery, many thanks, Gus Wylie, St Albans

5.0 out of 5 stars william klein rome, 3 Mar. 2014
This review is from: William Klein: Rome (Hardcover)
Remains for me, as fresh today as when I bought my first copy 55 years ago and is without doubt as seminal a work as Frank' s THE AMERICANS. The photographs resonate with energy that is in strict contrast to the considered approach of Cartier-Bresson and The Decisive Moment. Further, in addition to producing these images, Klein also designed the layout of the book. As a young aspiring painter at the time, it simply introduced me to a whole new way of thinking and looking. One of four volumes on great cities (NEW YORK, ROME, MOSCOW TOKYO, and always seen as a second option to his first on New York, I still love this one above all and I am gratified that it retains the original cover that first graced the cover of this volume, together with an image of Sophia Loren, complete with an added moustache - oh yes, oh yes.....Gus Wylie

5.0 out of 5 stars FINE BOOK AWFUL DELIVERY, 26 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
THE BOOK GAVE ME PRECISELY THE APPROACH TO A NEW MACHINE THAT I WANTED and the only disappointment came from the Post Office. To accept a purchase and then tell the customer that it would take between a week and ten days to arrive from the United Kingdom to England was frankly laughable and utterly frustrating. Accordingly I was quite unable to get the information I needed at the time that I ordered the book and I cannot help but think that this sort of thing and attitude may well be costing Amazon quite a bit of resentment and quite a bit of money,

5.0 out of 5 stars TIME STANDS STILL ONCE MORE, 10 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although I have known this book for some considerable time, I was utterly delighted to note that - unlike some reprints often are - this classic book has been merely re-organised and the editorial team has left not only its fine line drawings and explanations wholly intact but had also used the original photographs of Rod Bull's imaginative work. I knew Rod Bull at one time, and Keith Critchlow was at the Royal College of Art at the same time as I was and so it was gratifying that their work had not in any way been diminished. Clear and lucid explanations, coupled to the celebrated work of Professor Alexander Thom, give this book a feeling of exhilaration when not only reading it but also when seeing the context of the landscapes within which the discourse is framed, and avoids the blandness of so much academic discourse. Bought through Amazon for a professional colleague, this is one to treasure again and again, and was the springboard for the research for so much of my own photographic work some forty years ago in the Western Isles, Gus Wylie (Dr)
