The Corpse in the Cabana: A Viola Roberts Cozy Mystery (Viola Robert Cozy Mysteries Book 1)
The Corpse in the Cabana: A Viola Roberts Cozy Mystery (Viola Robert Cozy Mysteries Book 1)
Price: £2.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as her fantasy novels, 21 May 2016

It was ok! Not as good as her fantasy novels, but a reasonable stab at the genre with enough interest to keep me reading to the end. Characterisation minimal, occasional grammatical lapses which grate. Red herrings aplenty. An undemanding read.

Among the Unseen (The Thin Veil Book 3)

5.0 out of 5 stars An engaging read, 11 Sept. 2014

The third novel makes a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. The mythical worlds are consistent and well imagined, and the characters, considering the plot, credibly realised. Good fun from start to finish - I read it in a few hours and look forward to reading more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent paranormal/ historical novel, 9 Jan. 2014

A real page-turner which moves seamlessly between past and present. Creepy thrills galore, convincing characters and well researched period detail. The structure - tales within tales - works really well and contributes to the suspense and unease. I'd recommend this to anyone of any age from teens up. It's better written than most novels in the genre and has very sad moments - is quite grim at times - but if you enjoyed Twilight you'll love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 7 Jan. 2014

Not just a page-Turner - which it is - but beautifully written, with a wonderful sense of place, creating mood and atmosphere. Moving and uplifting, far more literary and literate than the average supernatural novel. Loved it!!!

I saw one episode of the tv series many years ago and was sorry I missed the rest. This is a beautifully written fantasy - impossible to put down. Creepy bad guys and a Believable hero _loved it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Bonkbuster tosh, 26 Mar. 2013

If you love Georgette Heyer, don't read this! Laboured plot, wooden characters, wooden style. Ok for a read on the beach after a good lunch and a jug of sangria - it held my interest enough to finish it, at least!

Dead Sky

5.0 out of 5 stars Tense and exciting thriller, 26 Mar. 2013

Tightly plotted and well characterised as always with Hoag. Frequently grisly and not for the faint-hearted, but a real page-turner - I finished it at 4.30 a.m. and I like my sleep!

Rather leisurely detective fiction in many ways, but a good undemanding read that won't keep you awake too long at night...

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and navigable version, 26 Mar. 2013

A good, clear version of the King James Bible that will be useful for students, researchers and linguists as well as old-fashioned Christians who love the potry of the 1610 version.
