5.0 out of 5 stars Great album!, 23 Jun. 2008
Why has it suddenly become so trendy to hate and slag off this band? This is a beautifully crafted album that feels part Coldplay, part Sigus Ros, Part U2. There are little forays into Dandy Warhols and Grandaddy territory too. A delight to listen to for music fans...if you're only interested in pop singles, stay away.

This isn't old Coldplay, nor even the less classic X&Y commercial Coldplay.....but I like it!

Along with Elbow's The SEldom Seen KId - best British Indy/rock album so far this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Consistently strong album, 14 May 2008
This review is from: Diamond Hoo Ha (Audio CD)
Supergrass have been producing consistently excellent for years and only a couple of listens will tell you this is pretty much as good any of their previous efforts. This marks album marks a return to the more energetic sound of their past albums, following the more mellow and mature Road To Rouen.

The two openers - Diamond Ho Ha Man and Bad Blood are both catchy and entertaining setting up the album perfectly. But things get better with Rebel In You which is infectiously bouncy and upbeat. When I Needed You is a darker affair and probably as Road To Rouen as you're going to get here. Some good rocky tracks are then followed by Ghost Of A Friend which is a catchy sixties-influenced number. Whiskey And Green Tea sees the silly side of Supergrass re-emerge and is very much Life On Other Planets territory. The final track, Butterfly is the stand-out track on the album and I would consider this to be as good as anything the Oxford band have ever come up with them - spine tingling stuff.

Supergrass have proven with this album that they are easily the most consistent and long living of any of the Britpop bands of old. Whatsmore, they clearly still have a few more albums in them. They continue to produce both technically excellent, fun, mature and great albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brillant alternative to FF, 2 Mar. 2007
As much as I love Final Fantasy, it sometimes gets a little self-indulgent and predictable. Here comes a rival franchise that I have never played before owning this game.

I was instantly won over by the beautiful cell-shaded graphics, fantastic score and voice acting and colourul characters. This is a long game (a good 100 hours first time round)and packed full of fun, sillyness but a fantastic game engine and numerous side-quests.

It's quite a refreshing experience playing an RPG that all the cheesey love stories and over-complicated storylines and aims at making turn-based role playing fun. This is a must buy for all RPG fans. I can't for Dragon Quest on the Wii and DS.

3.0 out of 5 stars A MUST buy, 2 Mar. 2007
Anyone wh is a fan of the Dragon Quest franchise will recognise this little blue chap. This is a great PS2 contoller for such a fan. Sadly it's about one of the worst controllers for actually playing games with. A collector's piece for fans (and a great one) buy otherwise useless!

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive, 27 Feb. 2007
Like everyone else I am a massive FF fan and was concerned when I haerd the whole fight engine was being overhauled. But I wasn't disappointed once I started playing. What seems a bizarre system at first soon turns into a logical progression for the series.

I simply don't understand where the comments from some of these so-called FF experts are coming from. This is a beautiful game with incredible detail, a more mature storyline and a nicely nostalgic score. Although at times this feels a far darker and broodier game than the typical FF fodder. The gothic, detailed graphics, political intrigue and often moody score reminds me very much of Vagrant Story on the PS1. There's even a very similar battle system.

If you want an impressive and new gaming experience give this a go - if not go play FF7 and remind yourself how much the franchise has improved.
