5.0 out of 5 stars unique TV sci-fi show, 2 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
All seasons (including the Miracle day) are all right on my player region C (Russia). Great picture, great sound, and most importantly it has English subtitles not only for the eps, but also for the extras. I love this show, I adore captain Jack (do not know how you can not love him). This is unique sci-fi show. It had enormous potential that could be used for many years. Captain Jack was incredibly interesting character who was not in any sci-fi show before. They could create a lot of stories about him, his past, the future. But it seems the era of tolerance on the BBC is over and they decided to cancel it. It is a crime.

2.0 out of 5 stars collecting gossip and rumors, 26 Dec. 2012
Gay Talese's article about Frank Sinatra was filled with inaccuracies and errors for example 'In 1953, after almost two years of marriage, Sinatra and Ava Gardner were divorced.' They were divorced in 1957. 'His voice and his artistic judgment were incredibly bad in 1952' You may hear any Columbia re-issue with songs were recorded by Sinatra in 1952 ("I Could Write A Book", "I Hear A Rhapsody", "Luna Rossa", "The Birth Of The Blues", "Azure-Te", "Bim Bam Baby") to make sure that this was nonsense.
Neither Frank nor Nancy Sinatra did not like this article, so Frank never gave an interview to Gay Talese, either before or after released of the article. It's collecting fantasy, gossip, rumors about Sinatra, digging his private life, shamelessly publication of his personal calls. He hated it very much. Then such fabrication was reflected in the scandalous biographies of Frank Sinatra sort of Kitty Kelley or Anthony Summers.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant perfomance, 17 Dec. 2012

Great concert with the top stars. Francis Albert Sinatra is in great shape. And I believe he deserved this honor. Quality of video and sound are briliant. This is a very rare concert, which was released in Europe only. It was not included in the re-release Frank Sinatra Concert Collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely perfect live performance, 21 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I never buy a post-mortem compilations of Frank Sinatra's hits, only full box sets, the compilations of singles or theme albums. But I purchased this release because of the concert. And it's worth it. This is absolutely impeccable sound and Sinatra's performance. Absolutely perfect performance, Frank is in perfect shape and the orchestra sounds ideally. Of course it is necessary to listen to a good hi-fi system. Then an impression is simply breathtaking.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant performance, 18 July 2012

A magnificent, brilliant performance. The Voice is in great shape and an excelent mood. A full, strong, clean sound and an overall impression that you are in the hall with the audience. It includes unique live performance of song 'Monique', that Frank was cut for 'Kings Go Forth' promotion. By the way the orchestra was conducted by Quincy Jones. I have this on cassette, LP and now I finally purchase the CD. This performance is some longer than the LP, left the conversation, jokes before songs, including Introduction by Noel Coward. Must hear all Sinatra's fans.
Tracking list is:
1. Introduction by Noel Coward. 2. Come Fly With Me. 3. I Get A Kick Out Of You. 4. I've Got You Under My Skin 5. Where Or When 6. Moonlight In Vermont 7. On The Road To Mandalay 8. Your Lover Has Gone 9. April In Paris 10. All The Way 11. Monique 12. Bewitched 13. The Lady Is A Tramp 14. You Make Me Feel So Young.

4.0 out of 5 stars It is worth the money, 12 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I liked this collection. On my Jazz/Classic hi-fi stereo system it has good sound close to the LPs (it's AAD transfer) with precision, soundstaging power. Instruments (harp, trumpets, drums, violins etc) sound crystal clear, detailed and dynamic, vocal is very pure and shiny. Capitol singles are much worse only. Each CD suits to the LP album (if it was released as Capitol or Columbia LP concept album). In the booklet each song has a date of the recording session. Unfortunately each CD does not have individual cover, but it made this collection more expensive and added nothing to the sound. It's pity the collection ends on 1960, and it does not have two of my favorite Capitol albums and some records from movies. But it's worth the money. I'd love to have the same collection for the Reprise.

His Way: The Unauthorized Biography of Frank Sinatra
His Way: The Unauthorized Biography of Frank Sinatra

1.0 out of 5 stars lies, trivia and gossip from tabloids, 26 Dec. 2011
First, Kitty Kelley is bad writer. His book has low style, poor language, dreadful structure. If Kelley has not chosen a scandalous theme, nobody read. Second. Why were people believe Kelley knew Sinatra's personal life? She did not know Sinatra personally, she did not speak with one of his real friend or relative. Her book is a collection of trivial things that everybody knows plus speculation, rumor, gossip. Why are people believe in this garbage? For instance. According to Kitty Kelley, after Sinatra was dropped from MCA, Ava Gardner contacted Howard Hughes to request film work for her lover at RKO. And Howard Hughes gave Sinatra to work in `Double Dynamite'. It's nonsense! First, Howard Hughes hated Sinatra! Second, `Double Dynamite' was completed during 1948 prior Hughes taking hands-on control of RKO, before Sinatra started work on great box-office 'On the Town', and well over a year before his exit from MGM. On the contrary, Hughes banned to realize `Double Dynamite' for three years! Sinatra was excluded from the promotion for `Double Dynamite'. Billed first on the original film, Sinatra found himself to third place. Kelley doesn't know basic things!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent photobook, 1 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent massive photobook with pictures, selected with love and respect, along with citations of Frank Sinatra and his friends. Of course, some pictures are very well-known and may be found in almost every photoalbum, but good part are enough rare, interesting, professionally made portraits, from film set, the studio sessions. There are a few photos of the late period of life but it pleases me. I think every Sinatra's fan should have it.
