5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, 5 July 2014

This review is from: Phase 10 Card Game (Toy)
Great card game with a twist from the makers of 'UNO'. Got this about 2 months ago and have been hooked ever since. Good game for two players which is often not the case with other games. Takes about 1 hr to complete if two playing but longer if more. The game has 10 stages but you can stop after a few and carry on the same game at a later date if you haven't got time to complete it in one sitting.

3.0 out of 5 stars The last century through one women’s eyes., 14 Jan 2013

This is an interesting book mentioning a lot of the important events of the 20th century, the second part of which I have lived through myself. A bit scary to realise some of the events were so long ago. It was worth reading but was a bit too factual for me, rushing from one event to the next. I like more characterisation than appears here. The war years were for me the most enjoyable part of the book and I felt the way her life ends was out of character for the Lillian we had been following. There was a whole host of people introduced to keep track of, but then maybe that is the point. We all meet and interact with so many people in a lifetime.

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read, light novel, 14 Jan 2013

I started off enjoying the story but the characters weren't sufficiently deleloped for me to care too much about them. Everything that happened was just a bit too easy for everyone and the more gritty issues easily glossed over. Ok if you're not feeling like delving too deeply into characters or issues and just need a light read, which we all do from time to time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully written novel, 14 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Snow Child (Kindle Edition)
The Snow Child is a contemporary reworking of an Old Russian fairy tale beloved as a child by Mabel, one of the main characters. A tale Mabel now as an older woman so strongly relates to, being childless herself. The wonderfully descriptive writing is evocative and atmospheric enabling you to really imagine experiencing it all yourself. Eowyn Ivey developed all the characters with gentle ease, weaving the book between reality and fairy tale so you were unsure how the tale would end. Eowyn has proved to be a wonderful story teller. A beautiful book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Duronic FPS60 Good Product, 7 April 2012

This is so easy to use. After turning the feet on the case to stabilise it, the screen just pulls up straight out of the nice sturdy case. The screen is nice and flat and does the job well. I bought this as I needed a portable screen. It is a bit heavier than I imagined it would be, but then it is good quality so maybe I wasn't being realistic.

Great bit of kit. Have you ever hated those pesky remotes that you have to point at the projector to use. If you have this one is for you. You can move your presentation on naturally whilst talking and moving arround without anyone noticing with this discrete wireless remote. I particularly like the way the usb wireless reciever tucks neatly inside when not in use.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant for short hair, 8 Feb 2011

This review is from: ghd IV Mini Styler (Personal Care)
I bought these to replace my non ghd mini straighteners and there is no comparison. The ghd mini straightener makes my strong hair smoother and the style stays for much longer, even for a couple of days. The curved plates mean you can have either spiked straight or put a softer edge to the ends. They may cost more than most but without doubt are worth every penny extra.

What a great buy! I recently went on the flower arrangers rota for my church and decided i needed a book with information and inspiration specifically for churches. I already had Judith Blacklocks Encyclopedia of flower design which is brilliant so expected this to be of the same standard. I was not dissapointed. It is beautifully illustrated with lots of fabulous ideas and full of useful information.

Collins Gem - GL: Glycaemic Load Explained
Collins Gem - GL: Glycaemic Load Explained

4.0 out of 5 stars Collins a little gem for GL, 31 Oct 2009

A very handy little book that has an informative introduction to GI and GL and how to make good choices. The listings of foods is pretty comprehensive and as a bonus has the Carb, Fibre, Cal, Protein and Fat values as well.
The book uses the traffic light system of red, yellow and green for each food rather than precise GL number which the authors point out can vary within a small range for the same foodstuff, so would not be accurate. It also points out GL is not the whole picture as some foods with no GL can be highly calorific, hence the need to quote the other values.
This works well for me as I only want to lose weight and keep it off. I don't have a medical problem which requires me to know precisely how much I am having on a daily basis.
The last section is called "Putting it into practice" and contains some ideas for low GL meals and a bit about what to aviod and choose when eating out.
This is exactly what it is meant to be, a good "little" reference book. If you want recipes you will need to buy a GL recipe book.
