5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, 24 Aug. 2010
Yes a great read but beware this author as he can seriusely damage your wealth.
I read Tom's Astro Navigation book then went out and paid £400 for a sextant. I have now completed the above book which I enjoyed immensly but am now often seen looking up boats.
I dont sail and it may seem a little odd for me to read such a book but as always this guy writes so beautifully and it got lots of nice pictures and is damn interesting
Anyways I have finished the book and going to re mortgage the house just in case. Have you seen the price of boats? :(

5.0 out of 5 stars Only what I expected, 1 May 2010
Again this guy has come up with yet another mini masterpiece...This is my third Tom Cunliffe book and as always it follows in the same vane...
Lots of nice glossy pictures...stuffed with interesting info...and as always the humour although he does seem to have a worryning need to make landfall and berth before last orders :)
I do strongly recommend this book as it is enjoyable and easy reading and fun

5.0 out of 5 stars Cel Nav Fun, 16 Feb. 2010
This little book was the first book I ever read on Cel Nav...I really do recommend it to anyone who is thinking about taking up this amazing subject..Even if you aren't its still worth a read as although its thin ..its packed with almost everything

Tom Cunliffe brilliantly explains things which I took for granted and was proved wrong. And the Author's "You tube" videos are really worth a look.

When I first started out on Cel nav..... I wanted nice glossy pictures not damn maths and trigonometry (as important as they are)and you get them here ...but with also hard facts and common sense

This is not written by someone like myself who now knows a bit about the subject but has not ever navigated ...but by someone who has real everyday life practical experience and all this shows in the style of writing ..and yes there is humour too :)

Well done Tom ...Thank you

Edition: Spiral-bound

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical Celestial Navigation, 20 April 2009
A very interesting "workbook" type book. But not strictly for beginners...Susan Howel seems to assume the reader is up to a certain level
I would however recommend the book as although it takes a bit of getting into it is very comprehensive
