3.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it unless you're willing to replace the analogue units. They suck., 26 Jan. 2015

As someone who holds a national record on Smash Bros, I feel qualified to write a review for this controller, but I’m going to make it quick. Here’s what you may not have read elsewhere:

1) The analogue sticks are poor. The lightest touch registers as a light touch but anything else registers as full power. It makes it hard to play almost any game. They are the joint-worst I've used on any controller.
2) The face buttons feel similar to the buttons on the N64 controller. That means they are firmer than on the Gamecube controller, but this is ok.
3) The shoulder buttons are quite light and a little too easy to press sometimes. At first it can be difficult to press the Z buttons without pressing L or R. However, I still think these shoulder buttons are an improvement over the ones on the Gamecube controller.

That's it. Read on if you don't already know the basics about this pad:

1) This has twin digital shoulder buttons whereas the Gamecube controller had analogue shoulder buttons.
2) This registers on the Wii and Wii U as a Classic Controller Pro and has all the same buttons, plus a turbo switch with speed control.
3) This has a larger and better D-Pad than the Gamecube controller, but still not great.
4) This does not have a rumble feature, and it weighs a lot less than the Gamecube controller.

This is the same game as the Premium version, but this one requires an in-app purchase to access most of the levels (at £2.95). The Premium version includes them all but is £3.15. I haven't found any other differences. It's awesome.

But it could easily be improved:

Allow custom user agents so that can get mobile sites without Android-specific pop-ups like "WE HAVE AN APP!!!!!" every two minutes. I prefer to use the Windows Phone user agent.

Allow blocking of third-party cookies, or get Ghostery to support the platform.

Allow showing the full real URL instead of the page title.

Flash support on KitKat with a detailed set-up guide.

4.0 out of 5 stars Carlsberg don't make game controllers..., 24 Feb. 2014
...but if they did, they'd make them like this.

The controller has the best D-pad and analogue sticks you're likely to find anywhere. The D-pad has a smooth finish so it won't wear, and it's mechanical with four clicky metal plates instead of the usual rubber domes. The shoulder buttons/triggers are also excellent. The triggers use magnets instead of springs making them much smoother than anything else I've used. The controller is comfortable to hold and feels similar to it's predecessor.

It takes AA batteries. You can use rechargeable batteries but you have to take them out to charge them. Only Microsoft's official lithium battery pack will charge inside the controller and that's an extra £20.

There are a few dumb decisions with the product design. The backs of the hand grips clip on so that there are no visible screw heads, but this weakens the structural integrity and creates gaps which move with light pressure. The PCB is exposed below the USB socket because the plastic shell has the wrong geometry. Overall I get the impression that the designers would have liked a few more weeks to finish the details.

As of February 2014 it doesn't work on PC, but that's meant to change in the near future.

It's too expensive of course, but I got it on sale for £35.

I've noticed that if you try to fly off a corner at a slight angle the game straightens you up. That means the entire game mechanic is automated (or at least assisted) making it not much of a game. The game menus are confusing so I've yet to look through them to see if this can be turned off.

Great idea though.

Kaiten Mail resolves all of the bugs I've experienced in K-9. It has an outstanding feature set. Most importantly it comes over as an honest app and requires few permissions. You either pick ads or you pay £2.99. I'll be paying £2.99 and I thank the developer(s) for creating the best email app on Android and for their honest business model. I'll be recommending this app to many people.

I've spent the last few hours trying out Android email apps. This one is far and away the best in every way.

It's also great that I can buy from Amazon. I don't have a Google account registered on my device (personal choice) so I always buy from elsewhere.

Nice icon too :-)

Thanks again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good tech, but invest your money elsewhere., 4 Dec. 2013

There are two major bugs with this version of this app. First, if you switch from this app to another while playing a video and then switch back the video will always be blacked out with no apparent way to fix it. Audio will continue. Second, videos will sometimes stop for no apparent reason and fail to remember your playback position.

The version on Amazon is currently out of date by several versions, and months. It's a shame that the developer only updates the version on Google Play and disregards people who have bought his app on other stores such as Amazon.

For these reasons I would advise using an alternative client such as Plex if Android is a major platform for you. Maybe drop the developer and email too if you've already bought this or if you're using MediaBrowser elsewhere.

This has an American plug built-in with an integrated European adaptor. Just take the Euro-adaptor off and plug the unit into a standard US>UK adaptor and you're set. You'll want to leave it this way because the American prongs fold down easily making it tricky to plug them into a socket. Mine came with an EU>UK adaptor which would make a larger than necessary US>EU>UK stack if you were to use it. I'd suggest that sellers ship a US>UK adaptor instead.

Mine came with all items listed in the description: The charger unit, 4xAA and 4xAAA batteries, as well as the EU>UK adaptor which I mentioned already (which I'm not using). The batteries are all the new kind with the crown on them. It's a nice looking unit.

For info on charging performance please see other reviews.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great router, 24 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've had quite a lot of routers and out of the box this is the first one that doesn't give you the impression it wasn't designed in an hour by someone who hates you. There's a neat hardware switch to flick WiFi off or on, and a push-push power button on the back. Ports are clearly labelled, and as you can see from the pictures it has two antennas and keyhole feature for wall mounting.

Plug it in and you're up in no time. It defaults to 192.169.0.1 as new routers should, and the web UI is easy to navigate. There's a nice big button to disable WPS (search the net to find out why you would want to do this). Furthermore the interface is very responsive. It doesn't need to reboot every time you change a setting. I changed one just then between this sentence and the last and I'm still online.

When you connect a device to the wireless network the connection is established very quickly. I'd estimate at least three times more quickly than with Virgin's Super Hub. The Wifi signal is also stronger than the Virgin offering as other reviewers have said.

If I had to find complaints they'd be that the Web UI uses the American date format and that it isn't immediately obvious how to change the default admin login password.

3.0 out of 5 stars Clever, but seems to defeat its own purpose, 18 Oct. 2013
It's good but it folds into a pretty big flat sheet. Bigger than anything else in my kitchen, and since my kitchen is mostly drawers there's not really anywhere to put it except at the side of a food cupboard or under the pans. I should have thought of this before buying.
