4.0 out of 5 stars Good Material, Death by Diagram..., 20 Mar. 2010
Daniels book has excellent material and is a great starter book in to the world of C#. I would recommend this for anyone looking moving from VB or anyone who wants to start a path in to C# development.

On the downside however, I felt that because the title was 'illustrated' the author had gone out his way to draw diagrams and pictures on each page. 'Death by Diagram'
In my opinion, most of these were irrelevant and to a beginner would not only cloud a lot of the good written material, but could even over complicate the chapter concept.
I did find myself understanding the written but the diagram made no sense.

Great book, if 50% of the illustrations were dumped. I would still put it on my shelf for the written content.

Microsoft® Visual C#® 2008 Step by Step (PRO- Step by Step Developer)
by John Sharp
Edition: Paperback
Price: £24.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Starter book, 20 Mar. 2010
John examples most c# concepts with good pace and enough detail for some who is new to c# or wants to brush up on the general concepts again.

The book is a definate read for anyone moving from VB to C# as it is the right starting pace.

Although there are programming exercise at the end of each chapter, some can leave you more confused then confirmed.

The chapter on C# Generics seems to over concentrate on the building of a binary tree structure rather then the concept of Generics.

Overall, Good starter book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Highly detailed., 20 Mar. 2010
Good overall book, in depth detail of most c# concepts. However, the annoying and continuous references to what C++ used to be like and do, could make the book difficult to read for thoses who don't know C++ concepts. The author seems to still be in that world.

Some concepts are over engineered but overall a good techie book. Not for fresh-faces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bite sized chunks to get C# in your head., 30 July 2008
Great book, fantastic format.

If you are fed up of reading computing books that border on becoming a novel then this is the one for you.

Straight forward example, straight forward text. Nice to know that at least one author realises that not everyone has time to read books and volumes of pages does not make the book good.

I highly recommend this book. Go get it if you want to start learning c#

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Read..., 26 Nov. 2007
This book was very funny in places and quite a good read. Nice reading material for a short journey. The story was quite exciting and maintained a good pace throughout the book.
