I bought this as a gift for a friend as I already had a copy. It is an immensly enjoyable read - a coffee table book you can open at random and enjoy each and every page. It evokes memories of treats of old and is written in typical style of Nigel. I have reread mine several times and every time is a delight.
Rollers are ok but certainly need anchoring with a hairgrip or pin as they do not stay in position without. Not a problem to add hairgrip but shouldn't be described as self grip - not everybody has a diffuser attachment to their hairdryer so heat has to come from regular dryer which doesn't help.
It was most interesting to read a first hand account of life below stairs in those days. Reading the factual memoirs of the author proved how accurate the research was for the original series of "Upstairs Downstairs". An easy and enjoyable read.
They brighten up the kitchen a treat at night, visitors have been well impressed - good for this time of year with long hours of darkness so will remove them during summer perhaps. Well happy with them.
