4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent online FPS, but not perfect!, 15 Aug 2005
I came across this game while I was engrossed in Counter Strike, and I've got to say it offers a huge scope of gameplay. Graphically its great and the freedom to choose your class, medic, sniper, engineer, etc. And to drive a variety of vehicles form boats to tanks to fighter jets, although be warned the jets and helicopters take a little getting use to. The choice to fight in squads or on your own is a good addition and if you don't want to fight you can always try to take command and lead your army to victory RTS style.
But it's not without its faults, you need a high spec machine to run the game well and if you ever get stuck in a APC or humvee with a player with high lag driving you'll know about it! Generally people are unwilling to fight as part of a team, preferring to kill everything in sight and ask questions later.
Overall a great game but with some issues remaining, the single player offline mode is pretty limited and unless you have high speed broadband I would think again before buying it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad if you're following the series, 27 July 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an okay anime, I've been playing the PS2 games and I've read the manga. This overall isn't a bad series, a bit slow at times and some of the episodes feel like they really not going anywhere. I did get sucked into it though and have overall found it to be an enjoyable series, be warned though there are better animes out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best games for the DS to date!, 25 July 2005
This is a very good adventure game in the 'point and click' mould. This game has a very good storyline and strong characters, more importantly the puzzles won't melt your brains but you won't breeze through them either.
It uses all the features of the DS form the stylus to microphone, there is even a puzzle which will see you folding the DS shut! It does it well though; at no point does using the DS features seem gimmicked, using them for the sake of it.
A very good application of the console to host an above average point and click

5.0 out of 5 stars (original+improvements)-all that was bad=MASTERPIECE, 25 July 2005
This review is from: Dark Chronicle (PS2) (Video Game)
This is a visually stunning game, the graphics are charming the game play is great and the building sections offer far more freedom. This game is everything dark cloud should have been.
This provided me with long game play, enjoyable storyline, charming graphics and a good selection of minigames. The ability to affect the future by building towns in the past is a great feature. And the bonus dungeon at the end of the game gives even more gameplay.
IF you don't have this game buy it, it really is that good, it's a great game for everyone aged six to sixty!

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay enough is enough, 25 July 2005
This review is from: .Hack Volume 4 (PS2) (Video Game)
I quite liked the first Hack game so I bought the second, then the third and finally now I got this one. You've probably got the gist of the game play by now so I won't bother with that.
BUT this has been a long series and often you find yourself unable to progress the story unless you spend hours searching for items. The game its self is okay but this series really should have been shorter, the story could have easily been fitted into two games without the feeling of this dragging out.
The games do not change; there are no new game modes or upgrades from one to the next. An okay game lessened by the dragging on of the series but be warned there are better RPGs out there and unless you're prepared to buy game one and follow it all the way to this game or have been following the story and want to know how its ends, try one of them.
Overall a good game with a few bad points, over shadowed by the dragged on feeling of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hey the title says it all, 25 July 2005
In this game you're not fighting evil alien hoards to save all of mankind. Rather you are one of the evil hoards who literally want to suck out the brains of all mankind!
This is a great game there is a lot of humour and the game play is excellent, by taking the rather original viewpoint of an alien you get to abduct innocent human females, fight metal robots and generally cause mayhem in your flying saucer.
While these are all good points the side missions are all very repetitive and quickly become dull, but this doesn't really detract from the overall experience. This is defiantly one to try. The mix of humour and outright daft missions is a great combo.
Ever felt sorry for the little green men you've sent to a better place in other games? If so this is your chance to even the score!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best books of our times, 20 July 2005
Lord of the Rings in undoubtedly one of the finest works of fiction to ever have graced the planet. Tolkien creates a world of great depth and wonder, when reading the book we you can see the gardens of the shire, hear the roar of the Balrog and see the wonder of the white city. He masterfully created a world rich in mythology and legend of its own and set the sights for every author who follows him.
BUT.
While Tolkien did in dead give the world this work of art it is not without its flaws, he often places too much influence on the surroundings rather than the story playing out in them. He dedicates chapters to describing the fellowships walk through middle earth but very little time is spent describing their battles. In Return of the King I have always felt that when describing the final battle from several characters viewpoints, this detracts from the story rather than adds to it. And I was never a big fan of the Scourging of the Shire.
The illustrations capture the scenes perfectly and are works of art in their own right, but this remains a difficult book to read. Many people who have seen the films and then watched the book will find them selves a little disappointed I think; the Films not only (mostly) faithfully follow the books, they bind them into a coherent strong story, which was sometimes lacking in the books.
Without a doubt one of the finest works of fiction ever, and it has influenced thousands of works since its publication. Everyone should have read the Lord of the Rings at least once, although it can be quite a struggle at times.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is possibly one of the best books ever written, 18 July 2005
Like every other fan I couldn't wait to read this and I've got to say I wasn't disappointed. The book is very well written and Harry isn't the angry and annoying boy he was in the Order of the Phoenix.
We see further development in Harry's character as he deals with loss and love. We also see him take a stand for what he believes in, Ron and Hermione also undergo some growing up.
I don't want to give the story away but this is worth reading have no doubt about that. Some may say it's not the best Harry Potter book, but you can't deny that is right up there with the best.
Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts is another fine addition to the collection by JK Rowling

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, not a trashy movie tie in, 24 Jun 2005
This is a very good book, okay its based almost entirely on the movie but its more than that. A good movie book will take you further than you can go by seeing the film and this book does it better than any I've read.
Its a great book in its own right, the writing is mature and the characters have been expanded. Their feelings, motivations are all laid bare.
Buy this book even if you've seen the movie and think you don't have to, because believe me you ain't seen nothing yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lightsaber fun with a hint of the dark side, 6 May 2005
Players of the lord of the rings, the two towers or return of the king will easily recognise the game play. A mixture of button bashing and skill assignment between levels; note this is not a bad thing. The gameplay is fast and furious and lots of fun as you slash and use your force powers to make your way through the game. You play as either Obi-wan or Anakin and each character has a definite play style.
This is a very enjoyable game, game play is often fast and furious and the graphics and engine smooth even when surrounded by dozens of enemies. The likeness are good and while not the real actors the voices are by no means cheesy, be warned though the game is true to the film and you will discover the plot if you play this. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Over all a fine game, while criminally short there are several bonus missions to be unlocked which does give it a slightly longer life.
A must have for fans and a fine addition to any action gamers collection.
