Hi. I have just purchased this camera and am delighted with it. It came with a 18/55 lens but i would really like a good zoom lens. Could anyone suggest one that would be good enough to capture the birds in my garden but won't break the bank. Thanks

Have a look at the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens. Image wise, it's in the same ballpark as the current Canon EF-S 18 mm - 55 mm - f/3.5-5.6 IS MK II kit lens, and wont break the bank. NOTE these recent MkII lenses are a great improvement over their original versions. WHen I bought my first DSLR the 18-5mm kit lens was not up to the job ('Bottle Glass' would be a good description) , and I instead bought a Canon 17-85mm zoom. Now I would be quite happy with the image quality provided by the 18-5mm IS II.

I got a Sigma. Under a ton on here and half that on eBay. Really good lens if you've got a tight budget: Sigma AF 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG Macro Canon Fit Lens

The Canon EF-S 55-250mm is a bargain. The results it can produce are fantastic for its price.
