First, I'll cover the "limited edition" part of this product.
You get a reasonably classy-looking quilted pouch. This is heat-resistant, so you can put your ghd straight into it after you've used it. It has a full length zip, which makes it easy to get the straighteners in and out. The little tassle on the zip of mine fell off literally the first time I pulled the zip, which was a bit annoying. Apart from that, it's definitely worth having.
The hard case is less of a success in my view. This is not something I can see being used every day. The photo on Amazon does not bring out how it looks HUGE. Not particularly attractive either. It is make of thick solid plastic, large enough to hold the zip pouch with straighteners inside (with space for instruction manual at the bottom, should you need it). However, there is no fastener to keep it closed, relying instead on the spring-loaded hinges. I found it tended to stay just slightly open with the pouch inside, which was a mite annoying. This case is supposed to be for travel, but I think would be completely unnecessary (and a waste of space) in any reasonable suitcase. On the other hand, if you back a soft holdall and give it over to the mercy of baggage handlers, then it might offer some worthwhile protection.
Apart from the two cases, this is just the normal ghd iv. In case you are buying straighteners for the first time, let me give you some insight into what this means.
I bought my wife some non-ghd straighteners a couple of years ago. They were a reasonable brand (can't remember which), but they were a real pain. My wife would stand for ages running the damn things through her hair to achieve any appreciable effect (she has very thick, naturally red hair). They seemed hot enough and all that, but just did not work very well.
I then bought her a ghd. What a difference! They just work. Beautifully. She only needed one or two passes to perfectly style each section of hair. It became possible to straighten her hair in the morning without needing to set special time aside. Since then, I have spoken to several female colleagues at work, and everyone who has a ghd agrees that they would never use anything else. There are some products where the hype and the cost is justified, and this is one of them. For something you may use every day, it really is worth the extra for a product that will be a joy to use rather than a trial of patience.
A few other features to note, which I like about the ghd:
- it automatically switches off if not used (e.g., if you forget to switch off before you leave the house)
- the power cord swivels in its housing, so it never gets twisted and tangled
- it can be used in any country (provided you have a plug adaptor) since it accepts any voltage from 110 to 240
To conclude, I cannot recommend the ghd iv highly enough. As for the limited edition case - make up your mind based on your own tastes. A normal ghd iv on its own (available on Amazon) and a separate case to go with it would probably come to less (my wife likes the cases that also double as a heat-resistant mat, which she finds very useful to put the straighteners down on during use)

Well firstly, the presentation of the product, in it's double casing - both of which can be used for storing or carrying other items (very useful indeed!) are sturdy, well made and useful.
The GHD's themselves feel, at first, to be a little lighter and less substantial that other older or 'professional' models. Don't let this deceive you. They are superb, my hair was straightened quickly and without friction or any apparent strain or damage to my hair. Using a good heat protecting product before helps too.
They heat up in superfast time taking seconds rather than minutes to reach the desired temperature.
I would recommend these for short to medium length hair due to the size of the straighteners. If your hair is longer you can of course use these to either straighten, dividing your hair into smaller sections to achieve best results, or, of course, to create curls, using the technique of twisting as you move down the strand.
To conclude, although lighter, these GHd's are mighty when it comes to styling and of course when it comes to straighteners, no other company comes close in quality to the finish achieved with GHD's. I've dreamed of the day I would own my own ghd's so I was over the moon when mine arrived. Immediately I was struck by the soft case and hard case as they are an impressive extra to my new straighteners. The purple soft case is very girly and acts as an excellent heat defence. The hard case is very practical as I have taken my ghd's on holiday and not worried about them being in my suitcase. When I first tried them I was in awe of how straight my hair was. It looked healthy, sleek and shiny. They did exactly what I wanted. My hair also stays quite sleek even if I get caught in a bit of drizzle (any moisture in my hair is a nightmare). The only problem I have encountered is when I tried to curl my hair. I managed to create some beautiful loose curls but overall my hair looked a complete mess. I really struggled. Thankfully the ghd's work so well as straighteners I easily rectified the situation. I got my sister to curl my hair for me and she did manage to do a fantastic job, I will enlist her whenever I want something more special again. Overall I could not be happier with my straightners. They heat up very quickly and it takes no time at all to get ready in a morning as they are so effective. I love them so much, they are everything I dreamed of (except curlers!!).
