The one I got for my wife is a normal UK 3 pin plug, and yes it will work in Ireland North and South.

The only thing I would say is that it drys your hair slightly quicker, but that nozzle problem is the 'biggie' for me, it drives me mad. It clicks on to the end rather than sliding over/jamming on...and the hotter it gets it moves, if you tap it with your hair brush when you are drying...zoop..and it's slid round, and you can understand how painfull this is when you have to keep re arranging a hot nozzle...if you don't use a nozzle then yes it's not a bad dryer, but even then, there are better out there for the price...I.e parlux
