Not been on the forum much in a while. But, upon return, it doesn't take more than 2 minutes to realise who the resident cock is.

It's a shame you need more than a £130 graphics card to play games though eh, try adding a good PSU, motherboard, CPU, RAM, case, a decent gaming mouse, keyboard, controller, copy of Windows, 1080p monitor and it's more like £1000 for the gaming PC vs £350 for PS4. For £1000 you could buy a PS4, XB1, WiiU, a game for each and you wouldn't miss out on all the console exclusives :).

Console exclusives > playing third party games at a better framerate with slightly better graphics.

Isn't DayZ being ported to consoles at some point?. If it ever moves out of alpha that is.

People also seem to enjoy Arma 3 Breaking Point and Battle Royale more these days.

I don't think it will ever happen due to the ridiculous performance requirements. It's on track to go to Beta before year end atm with Bohemia moving it to a new engine which will support DX11. Plus they are in final stages of the new Nav mesh testing which should go live soon. That alone will change the Zombies dramatically and allow more on screen whilst using much less resources than before. The barracading/vehicles etc will fly through development once the core architecture is sorted, which it almost is.

If you are including a 1080p monitor into the budget for a PC, you'll need to include a 1080p TV to the cost of a console.

I wouldn't say you do, most people have TV in there house already.

Why? Most people already have a TV.

Obviously not taking into the following do need to be acquired when purchasing a AMD 270X for you people out there hoping a GPU alone will suffice:

CPU
Motherboard
RAM
HDD
Case
PSU
Mouse + Keyboard
Monitor
Windows/Linux/Apple OS Fee

Many Thanks :)

You pay for what you get. If you want the best then you have to cop for it. I've played both PS4 and the XBONE and although they are great bits of kit I like the flexability a PC offers. Putting aside the graphics there are many reasons PC gaming is very appealing to some.

On the whole a more mature gaming community - although many more trolls
You decide what gaming pad you want to use, weather thats XB control, PS control, M&K.
Modding, pretty much one of the main reasons I game on PC.
Vast array of game add ons. Weather thats a choice of communication software, live streaming, in game screenshots (I am aware these are on the next gen but the choice on PC is much much more varied).
Ability to upgrade and change the PC to look exactly how you want.

The main reason I game on PC is the running cost - after the initial hit it's cheap as chips to run - no online fees, new games £20 cheaper upon release and Steam Sales for older games (6 months old or so)

That adds up to a significant amount over the course of a console generation

Most people have a TV sure, but not all people have an HD TV and of these not all are 1080p.

Same with computer monitors, most people have one of these too, not necessarily a 1080p one however.

Also, a PC can do much more than just gaming. Surely the majority of gamers already have a computer anyway in 2014. So that factors into the cost for me, if you need a new desktop, a decent gaming pc isn't much more of a stretch.
Fancy peripherals are not needed either, I know plenty of people that game with £10 mice, old dell keyboard and play no worse for it.

And then we have Steam big picture which is designed for use with TV's isn't it?

My PC is linked to my TV as is my PS3 & PS4, so if you take the rational that you don't need to include a cost for a TV with a console, you can do the same with a PC.

I built my sister a gaming PC a few months back. Think I may have mentioned it before. It has a quad core AMD processor, 8GB 1600MHZ Ram, and a 270X GPU. Cost (roughly) £320 all in. Plays Assassins Creed Black Flag on Very high settings 1080p.
