How have you set up your xbox one, PS4 or both, to your TV? Do you connect it straight to your TV or do you have it set up to something else like a AV, hi Fi system etc. Do you use fiber optics for the audio or via hdmi. And what make of hdmi lead etc do you use?

Today I tried connecting up my PS4 via hdmi to my
Sony BDV-N7200W all in one blue ray system and the sound was so more louder and clearer compared to when I had it connected to a QED fiber optic.

I Connected our XBOX ONE to our 32" LG 1080p TV using the provided HDMI cable that came with the XBOX ONE.
Works fine and the sound is perfect and was very straight forward !

I have connected my ps4 to our Samsung 42" LED HD 1080p Smart TV, along with a WHITE HDMI 24k GOLD PLATED CABLE LEAD V1.4 FULL HD 1080P 3D support, also i have the tv hooked up to our Sony Amplifier, just so i have the option for surround sound.

Does anyone have their xbox one connected to their sky box/free sat etc? I brought an xbox one yesterday and have set it up via the youview and although it seems an enjoyable experience, I can see having to two systems on to just watch TV will become impracticable!

SleepingDogz,

The quality of the HDMI lead makes absolutely no difference to the picture fella,it's a digital signal that's either there or not. ;)

Brilliant Question.

My PS3/PS4 are connect to a PC monitor with no speakers via a HDMI Splitter.

Now you ask, well how do you get sound then with no speakers on your Monitor?

Well, my PS3/PS4 are connect to a Optical Splitter which connects to my PC's Sound Card which has an Optical IN port. So the Sound travels to my Sound Card on my PC from my PS3/PS4 then the speakers connected to my PC are used for my PS3/PS4.

:D

I plug my PS4 into my TV with the cable that came with it and hey presto, it works and plays every game that will ever be released for it.

One of only 2 reasons why I will always be a console gamer over a PC gamer

Game's take on a whole new perspective if you can play them through separate speakers from the TV or through a surround sound system.

I have the option to run the sound from my consoles through my Denon amp and Kef speaker set up. And that great (when no one is home) but for the last few years I have been using headphones, and once you do its very hard not to. With the official wireless sony cans for example, great surround for gaming, and you can chat too. Now even when I don't have to I still use headphones as its a better experience with that sound direct to your ears.

On my PS and xbox 360, I would use 5.1 headphones via a Astro gaming audio system, and it was an amazing way to experience gaming as you could hear bullets fly buy and enemies seeking up from behind. After that I couldn't get used to hearing the sound from a TV speakers.

I also use headphones almost exclusively while gaming as its invariably later at night. Got a pair of Astro A40s with mixamp and I love it. Gaming with the tv speakers would just be a bit strange now.

Video
I have a HDMI switch for all the consoles (PS4/PS3/Xbox 360) connected to my main TV (using one HDMI port). I then have the gaming PC hooked up to the other HDMI to use it as another screen. My main PC monitor is a 1080p 1ms Benq.

Audio
I have Astro A40 headphones with mixamp that use an optical switch which is hooked up to my gaming PC/PS4/PS3/Xbox 360. I also use stereo speakers for general everyday operation on the main PC.

My signal is taken from my various consoles to my TV via Fraggles !

Posted on 15 Jul 2014 11:31:56 BDT
I use some Copper wire that I stole from the local PowerStation, I recycled some tyres off a old land rover and made a wire casing, I then forged from scratch the two heads of the HDMI.

The joys of imagination...

Like all electronics, the games consoles and televisions in my household are connected together using a devilish combination of goblin magic and pure hope
