So wait, if I go to the French Amazon site, use American Currency to make a purchase, I will get a 50 euro voucher? That doesnt seem particularly useful to me. After the import duty and exchange rates (£s-$s then EUR-£s) then having to wait for overseas delivery, I'd probably be better off just buying my item on the UK site would I not?

No it is still worth it. Shipping costs only 6 Euros, there is no import duty (EU!) and exchange rates dont make such a big difference. Maybe you don´t get the full 50% off, but at least 40%!

You'd still have to pay VAT on any purchases over £15 then you pay Duty on any purchases over £135. I still think i'll give it a miss.

There is no duty, the UK & France are both in the EU.
