It's official, Revolution Software has announced Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse!
It's a Kickstarter as they want to keep the development completely In-house and need donations to finish the game. On PC/Mac and Android so far, no news on console releases as of yet.
Broken Sword is a point and click adventure game series starring unwilling hero George Stobbart, an intrepid American lawyer, and Nico Collard, a sassy French freelance journalist. Through the series George and Nico are unwittingly drawn into sinister and terrifying conspiracies, requiring them to uncover ancient mysteries and unravel myths across the globe. Nerve, cunning and guile are essential in order to conquer these compelling adventures.
Charles Cecil Head of Revolution and Director of the Broken Sword games has assembled many of the original crew and Voice actors. As well as going back to 2D like the original games!
"The traditional publishing model has prevented us receiving the required royalties to fund future games. With limited financial reserves we have been unable to fund our own titles and so we have not benefited from their success."
"For the first time in our history, we will be funding an original adventure game: Broken Sword - the Serpent's Curse. This will give us full creative freedom, and let us work with you. We promise to keep you up to date with all aspects of development and we will value your support."
"Development of the game is going well - we hope that you like what you see. Kickstarter funding will allow us to proceed at a faster rate, and ensure the game achieves its ambitious design. Without this funding we will risk having to cut back features and delay the game's release."
By following this link and pledging, you'll help fund an amazing game and also helping a U.K based Developer continue to make games. The original target has been met, but there are stretch targets that if met could really improve the game with more exotic locations and scenes!
