Hi all,

I've been thinking about creating a new PC thread for a while now - Why?

The STEAM thread has served us tremendously over the past year or so. I take my hat off to it and to everyone that has kept it going and not let it die (which it nearly did a couple of times). Over the past few weeks its been clear that more people are looking at PC gaming to get their 'next gen' gaming fix now and the posts in the STEAM thread have been quality but it's not all about STEAM, is it?

I think a new general PC thread will better reflect the PC activity in the forum with general gaming chit-chat and hopefully anyone needing basic PC advice regarding games/peripherals/components/STEAM/F2P/MMO's/ORIGIN/Xfire etc can post their questions/views in here.

Talking of advice - If its major problems your having with an existing rig or if your looking at building an 'Enthusiast' rig, head on over to:

http://forums.hexus.net/
http://www.overclockers.com/forums/
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/categories-list.htm

All above sites are full of PC experts that would be more than happy to help you resolve any problems you may be having with your set-up.

If its minor compatibility questions you have I'm sure some nice person on here can advise you or provide links/info to help you on your way.

Right, lets get started. If your a silent lurker around these them parts don't be shy - jump in! We're all decent guys, well most of us. Below is a list of regular STEAM users that frequent this forum, erm, frequently:

Cptn - Cptn Cloroform

I've deleted a few names from the old STEAM thread list because, hey? Who are you? Where have you been? And I've kept Nessy on the list because I love him and he's good for a laugh too. I can add/remove names as we go along.

Below is a list of active ORIGIN user ID's - mainly used for BF3 at the moment:

Good call on a general PC gaming thread, now I will know where to come for advice when I eventually get round to purchasing a new gfx card.

Might as well start off with a query as my knowledge of PC gaming is rather limited.

I have been thinking about playing Morrowind again but was going to get some mods, can anyone reccomend any and are they easy to use? I have not had much luck (or patience) with modding in the past, but after seeing some of the graphic mods on youtube for morrowind I am keen to give it a go.

I don't mod, Bub... I done it once with GTA IV and the ICEnhacer mod... Failed miserabley, couldn't see anything as the contrast was set to EXTREME. Just white glowing everywhere and I couldn't adjust it. Then, when I uninstalled it, ALL sound on my rig failed on every game?... Shocking...

***EDIT***

Icaruschips does. If your reading DA...

Good idea, but this is basically the same as the Steam thread eh? That expanded to PC gaming in general.

However, due to the wider-scope title of this, we may be spared the incessant ramblings of resident peon Hackett.

I was chatting with Jojo about a Minecraft server. I've got exams so won't be on until the end of the month or so, but it could be quite a good laugh if a few of us join, get some headsets and build colossal phalli.

Just one intresting tid bit I read this morning. The Old Republic has dropped 400,000 subscriptions since Feb. That is a big drop and with GW2 realesed soon (I hope, get your finger out AN) they could take an even bigger hit.

Hunter I would say it was nothing more than an oversight on Dela's part. It can be amended very fast.I think not posting again is a slight over reaction.

Morrowind can be a pain to mod honestly. I've installed them all before, though, and it makes the game look fantastic. Water and God rays especially. You might have to spend a good half hour restarting after changing settings though as it's extremely taxing on your system considering Morrowind is an open world and the changes the mods are making. Worth it in the end though, and I still stand by Morrowind being the best Elder Scrolls game there is.

This is the pack I have used previously, as I say a pain to install but there are instructions. It's the 2GB file you want, along with the .pdf above it.

May pop in here from time to time. I would have posted more often on the Steam thread, but Hackett made it rather unbearable.
