YAY Lady M, now I can just use the Nerdy folks Pawns which will benefit everyone.
Using our pawns will help you, as they would have already done the first couple of quests and will offer hints how to beat an enemy or what to do. :)
I'd suggest going either as Fighter/Strider yourself and have a Mage as a pawn, that way they'll keep healing you and adding elemental status to your weapons. :)
As well as casting spells onto enemies!!

my pawn is a mage - i still have yet to do much since i'm trying and failing to kill seagulls :) i'm using chaos's pawn as it is a strider. it works quite well, but i've had to turn off the pawn subtitles as they were really annoying me :)

I just went to the beach and shot them with bow and arrow, they sit on the driftwood and old boats. (Obviously you can't do this if you're not a strider)
I'm hunting for spiders atm, but i'll carry on with the main quest later tonight. :)

Burty can you resend your last chess move, I deleted accidentally. /Facepalm

lol - i'm a fighter and can't equip ranged weapons, but now have killed 2 seaguls by doing a dash attack about 50 times :)

i'll resend the chess move!

loving dragons dogma. carried on both my original game and changed my vocation to assassin when I got to the capital. went off to do a notice board quest and ended up in a half flooded cave fighting a cyclops instead. was great fun.

My plan is to max out Fighter then switch to Mystic Knight.

The best moment I have had so far was in a fight with two cyclops. We killed the first and had the seconds health down to about half, all my guys were low on health with no healing items left but one of my hired pawns shouted out "For you, Arisen!", or something like that, then jumped onto the cyclops back causing it to lose its balance. Both the pawn and cyclops fell of the edge of the cliff and died, he saved us by sacrificing himself. It was really shocking to see lol.

If I remember right i'm almost at level 20 and have basically abandoned the main quest to explore and do side missions. On my way backtracking to the starting village to finish a quest I forgot I had to catch a thief.

I haven't even played it today, so i'm still a lvl 10 strider!! That wasn't my Pawn was it??? :'(
I'll be on it most of tomorrow and killing all manner of beasts, loved the Hydra fight and the Saurians were tough as I killed the only one I saw then a load more just turned up!! Survived it though thanks to my Pawn. :)

All in all a great day!

I have learnt something new on Dragons Dogma today

1. fighting chimera while on an escort quest is a bad idea.
2. fighting dragons is a bad idea
3. running from dragons doesn't really work.
4. the AI gets a little trigger happy

Was on Dragon's Dogma till about 2.30am, but when I went back on today at 1pm and rested at the Inn I found my pawn had been busy lol. Three people had hired her and I gained a nice 12k Rift Crystals as well as a Wakestone shard from each person!

In reply to an earlier post on 27 May 2012 14:16:18 BDT
You're welcome, I hired her around 7pm and was playing until 1am. ;)

When do you create your main pawn?

Only played an hour and not left the first village, just interested to know really?

In reply to an earlier post on 27 May 2012 14:28:30 BDT
After you find a riftstone, or get to the encampment afer you leave the village.

Stew, if you are still using my pawn I would advise you release her and re hire as she now has the upgraded Holy weapon enchanting spell on her lol.

I release the Pawns before I quit Telik, and rehire them when I start up again. ;)

Ok so got stuck into DD today and am enjoying it so far.

A few niggles in that the auto save is crap and for some reason healing magic doesn't seem to heal people?

Been using Chris' Strider and Teliks Mage as my companions along side my main fighter pawn and so far so good although my Mage gets his ass handed to him in 3 hits so lots of running and levitating all over the place!

In reply to an earlier post on 27 May 2012 21:38:31 BDT
I tend to save before a monster fight, especially Cyclops' and Chimera's!!!
Faced a dragon today and after 10 minutes of striking and dodging it killed me in one Fiery Swoop. :(
Luckily I saved beforehand and just avoided it afterwards, but I did get a trophy thanks to the Dragon improving my Armour with it's fire breath!! lol

Using Telik's mage and Hammie's Fighter myself, my fighter pawn is pretty useful in saving me. ;)
All I did today was travel alot, escorting some dude from Gran Soren to the Shadow Fort killing alot of goblins and beasties along the way.

the manual save is great - i'm starting to get the hang of DD - i tend to use chris's strider & stew's fighter - the bandits in front of witchwood were giving me some hassle, but i killed them & did the witchwood quests - yay. now i need to see if i can take on the saurians.

Stew,

Was that the dragon in a grove not all that far from some castle with Shadow in it's name? if so it's the same one that destroyed me a number of times.

Currently level 28 and trying out the magic archer which i currently hate. But i'm aiming to get it to rank 8 for the healing augment it has. then i'm going back to my Assassin.

Telik says:
MMM with the basic healing spell you need to stay in the glowing area to be healed, while when you get the High version of it you just need to walk into the glowing area once and will keep healing as you walk on. However remember that the healing spells can only heal you up as far as the grey bar goes, so if you health only goes up so far but not to its max you need to use items to replenish it more. Really hope that made sense 0.o lol. I'm not great at trying to describe things like that.

As for progress, I maxed out the vocation level for Fighter today and learned all the skills I needed for it so my Arisen has now switched to a Mystic Knight. Done one quest as a Mystic Knight and killed so much with that one quest that its vocation level has already went up to four! Got to say though I love it so far, enchanting my shield with fire so that it blasts enemies back when I block them. Also got a skill called Holy Wall I think for my shield that basically makes a wall of energy from my shield when I block now so I can protect allies if they are close to me too.

This game is just so good! Oh and has anyone else been finding teaching scrolls for pawns? Like scrolls that teach a pawn how to deal with certain aspects of enemies. Everyone that I find I keep till I get back to town, that way I can hire pawns from people on here so that when I use the scroll it teaches the tactic to your guys too ^^ Like one I found taught the pawns to attack the snake tail of the chimera first to kill that part quickly, another taught to use Holy weapon enchantments on the undead etc. Really nice little aspect.

Yeah that's the one Chris, I ran like a frenchman in the end as he's uber powerful!!
I'm sticking with Strider until I max it out, then probably go Ranger or one of the Hybrid Vocations. :)
Just explored the Watergod's Altar, which is behind a waterfall that's near the Mountain Waycastle. Couple of nice treasures in there, along with Undead, Saurians and a Cyclops. ;)

I have to explore Witchwood fully, I only went there for that lost girl quest. Might have to try Chris' Strider too.

Can't believe this game got some really bad reviews, it's one of the better RPG's i've played this Gen!!
