Got a group assessment due Thursday, pretty much stumped on the logic gates question. We have some adders prebuilt for us in Logic Gate sim but we all suck at this part of the course.

For reference.

a) Modify the 8 bit adder so that is has some extra outputs. In addition to the Carry flag, it should have a `Zero' flag, a `Negative' flag and an `Overflow' flag. `Zero' indicates if the result of the operation is zero and `Negative' indicates of the result is negative, when using a two's complement format. The `Overflow' flag is trickier; it demonstrates if a two's complement number has become too large and changed sign as a result. For example, if you add 127 and 3, you get -126 and if you add -120 and -30, you get 106!! The overflow flag output should be set to indicate when this has happened (HINT: overflow can only occur when the two numbers being added have the same sign)
b) Modify the subtractor circuit so that it also has these extra outputs (this should be relatively simple as you can reuse the outputs from your new, modified 8 bit adder)
c) Make a 4 bit multiplier by reusing the 8 bit adder and/or the 4 bit CLA adder components. It should be able to multiply two 4 bit numbers and produce an 8 bit result. You should assume that the four bit numbers are both positive for this purpose.

@Cap - congratz mate. Let me know how you get on with the FX8350. I never Oc'd mine in the end as it runs super without intervention. If you oc yours, let me know how it goes.
@Dela - you get TF on RD and then don't play it lol - BF4 all over again - get back on Crysis you heathen...How's the house going ??
@Hackerdude - Dark Souls 2 is brilliant. My only concern is the addictive nature to it. Did a 7 hr play on it. Could have been over lvl 100 already but spents souls on rings, magics, pyr, miracles - so that I would stay within coop range of the peeps on the thread. Some are over lvl 100 already. It's excellent. All the same ingredients as Dark Souls 1 but with added things. Doesn't have the same WOW factor for me , but they have fixed the COOP. Works now which is EXCELLENT.
It's just crazy good. Have cancelled my PC pre-order for now but tempted to pick up dig copy for the PC anyway and get on for the release Date - will wait and see. Would like to have it on PC from the go so I can choose between the two.
Also, there is LOADS of coop - the servers are jammed...Hoping it will be the same on PC ...

"Is it looking o be longer than DS" - Yes...allegedly it's twice the size. Also, there seem to be more bosses. Love the fact that some bosses from Dark Souls 1 have made a re-appearance (but won't give away anything).
"Whats your thoughts on the changes they have made combat wise" - It's changed. It's much faster - almost like your char from Dark Souls 1 on steroids..Takes a bit of getting use to but once there, it's fine. Movements, running, rolling - everything is like twice as fast...
"gothic fel still there" - Yes, but seems a bit brighter. It's just really well done - it's a combination of Demons/Souls. They have added the NEXUS in the form of a place called Majula. It's beautiful and bright as opposed to the Dark Nexus area. The graphics are better. more crisp, better colour palette - but not hugely. The thing that stands out for me is the phantom images from other worlds. They are so CLEAR and perfect. When watching them, it almost seems as though they are in your world.

Be interested to see the difference on PC. I read that they have up'd the FPS to 60 on PC whereas its capped at 30FPS on console.
Also, PC will be 1080....

Only worry is that you say the chars feel much faster, so surely they will have to balance this out on PC. At 30FPS you say they look like they are on steroids so at 60FPS they may look like they are on crack!

Dark Souls 2 is too easy. Heard you can 1 shot the Dragon Werm Boss from the Caverns Of Lost Souls..

You need +12 Fire on a Yumoto Sword and Wielding the Tight Buns Shield.

I am of course joking.. As I'm not hardcore enough to play Dark Souls, as I have amassed around 50 deaths in a total of around 15 hours of game play and have defeated 1 boss by myself, and about 5/6 with the help of Zort (who actually did everything to be fair to him)

May get it on PC when it's out, but have Diablo 3: ROS & Elder Scrolls Online coming out soon.

Slightly concerned with the lack of Console games coming out, but even so, the PC games are few and far between tbh..

Still looking for word any of the following to be announced:

Fallout 4
The Last Of Us 2
Borderlands 3

Gearbox said they are definitely going to make BL3, but its not currently in production.

I don't pre-order many games, I think I have pre-ordered about 2/3 (Footy Manager 14 being 1 of them and a couple of WOW Expansions)

Fallout 4 & The Last of Us 2 will be a pre-order for me.. No question, may even get the collectors editions this time around with these.

Dark Souls 2 was preordered for me back in November, was hoping i'd be on it already but obviously From Software have delayed it. Hoping that in light of this the PC version is going to be awesome!

There is an AMA on reddit today with the developers from TESO but this might answer your question.

Reccy said he was picking up the game as am I. Still not sure what Race/Class combo but atm the nightblade looks pretty OP due to siphoning skills.

Morning all

Got my FX 8350 fitted last night, its good, thermals are incredible, at 4.2ghz it did a whole hour of prime 95 and stayed at 49c. wrt gaming, I havent had a chance to really put it to the test, had a quick blast on DayZ this morning but not really enough to see any changes, but this game is terribly optimized, i'll try GW2 tonight.

Glad your up and running on the new CPU Will. Interested to see how it performs in games. I would'nt expect too much difference in terms of FPS for most games but some (DayZ, mmos) FPS increases should be huge. The biggest difference you will notice is the loading times on EVERYTHING. Dans on a 4570K but due to my 2500K being OC'd I load into levels around 10-15 seconds before him.

Played some of the latest Dayz patch last night and out of 3 hours online I only managed 2 ingame due to major desync issues (Although a fix is going in over the weekend). On the plus side there is so much in the game now and finding new things never gets bored.

The hunting part of the game is in testing now eg Ragdoll physics, throwing, cooking, survial ideas (cold etc), hunting wild animals and TENTS (makes items stay in server even if they arent carried on the player making looting and hunting for other peoples property viable again)!!

Best of all.......VEHICLES and BARRICADING are now in development!!!

Im online tomorrow if anyones around.

Vehicles, finally!

I tried to play last night, got it running pretty smooth, but I couldnt properly test it as every server I got into disconnected within 2 minutes of gameplay.

From what I read last night, the biggest fps increase you can get would be from running DayZ off of an SSD.

Yeh, it was smooth when it was running I just got really annoyed with desync and waiting on loading.

The crashes are driver related mate. Apparently if you roll your driver back it fixes the issue. I'm just waiting on the fix tbh.

Think I'll pass moving my steam library onto SSD, would be great but I'd have to sell my right ball to pay for it.

Well I spotted an SSD in CEX for £25 on my lunch, its only 32gb, but for DayZ thats plenty. It only had a read speed of about 250mb/s. You reckon I should try it? I could probably also fit Guild Wars 2 on there, that'd slash my load times.

Personally no.
You can pick up a 120GB for like £50 on here. Even a 64GB for like £30-£40.
