EA Has Missed The Point Completely

An EA Spokesperson has said they have decided to put co op into Dead Space 3 because the series is too scary. So basically if you play with a friend the scares deflate because there are 2 of you.

Arn't EA missing something here. People play survival horror games to be scared its like me buying Mortal Kombat and saying there is too much fighting or buying a COD game and saying there is too much shooting.

Dead Space is a survibal HORROR game. What are your thoughts on this?

Well as you don't have to play in coop, I see no problem with it.

Well even if you dont play in coop you will still have a AI controlled partner by your side throughout the game, some would argue (like me) that this would also diminish the scares, taking away the isolation?

Adding coop just screams that EA are trying to conform to the common denominator, very very stupid move IMO. They just dont seem to realise what they have with Dead Space in this generation with next to no horror games. So yes I agree they have missed the point entirely.

It could still be good ; ) maybe?

Really? I didn't realise that??

Just checked; single player is single player, cutscene's change in coop.

EA are talking crap as usual. They are simply trying to shoe horn in some kind of multi player to stop people trading the game in. The previous game had a poor mans L4D gameplay in my opinion. This way with co-op they can add some co-op achievements/trophies which they hope will encourage people to convince their mates to buy a copy as well. I bet it has some kind of pass too so you can't rent it for the co-op achievements.

i just assumed you would, thats ok then, then yes i agree choice is not a bad thing, if u need someone to hold ur hand you can!

i guess it works like deadrising 2, they game just doesnt acknowledge there is a 2nd player, story wise

Hey Unabridged, maybe turn down the aggression-o-meter a bit or be prepared to be branded a wormdoo, wormdoo.

"Where did you read that? Provide a source or be prepared to be branded as a troll, troll."

That's a bit much. Did you conisider doing a Google search before labelling the OP as a troll - because I did and got plenty confirmed hits.

"It has become fashionable to hate on EA just for the sake of it."
Do you have a source to support this?

Blimey, that chip on your shoulder is almost tangible. This is a web forum not the Washington Post - collaborative sources are not a prerequisite to posting. Not met the OP but sure he's a fine fellow & no, I'm not a regular who can't handle someone questioning the authenticity of a post w/o any sources.

You come across as a bit aggressive.

You must be using a different Google than me then, because I searched for 'Dead Space 3 co op" and got Neoseeker, Joystiq and IGN as the top 3 results all confirming the same info.

This is a discussion forum, not Wikipedia. Not every statement needs a selection of sources to back it up. If you are too lazy to do a search before accusing someone of being a liar the the fault lies entirely with you.

RAB says:
Why the need to come in so heavy-handed though? Why not present your defence of EA, if indeed that's your position?

For the record I do think EA have dropped the ball if these quotes are legit, but that doesn't make them evil, just means they don't quite understand certain sections of their audience. It'll probably still sell well though, because the anti-EA brigade are a small but vocal minority, the majority of people will just recognise the EA name and trust it because it's everywhere.

Nah I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for the minute. Not that it particularly matters if I do.

RAB says:
Not sure if you read my post properly. You've repeated what I've said but added a bit of venom and tried to make out I'm wrong.

For the record I do buy a lot of EA games because I don't have any real problem with them. That doesn't make them infallible though.

EDIT: As for my "hating", I don't feel I was overly aggressive. Rather balanced in my opinion. It was almost a sit-on-the-fence post actually.
