John Morris says:
Nintendo's new home console - 'Wii U'.

Every console comes with a 'Nintendo Gamepad' which has a 6.2" Tablet touch screen built in, this will open up new and unique gameplay opportunities as well as allowing for 'off screen play' (someone else can watch TV while you play the console on it's controller), it will also be used in local MP games (Two player Black Ops 2 for instance, both players can play with one player using the main TV while the other uses the Tablet controller to play the game on it's screen).

All Wii U consoles are fully backwards compatible with all original Wii games and most accessories.

Every Wii U console will come with Miiverse, Nintendo TVii, Nintendo Eshop, Video chat (console to console), an Internet Browser and 100% free online gaming.

John Morris says:
The Crysis series is highly regarded by many FPS fans who get their game on with an Xbox 360, PS3 or PC. With Crysis 3 due to arrive Spring 2013, it's natural for some Nintendo gamers to wonder whether this title will make the jump to Wii U. After all, developer Crytek was in the Wii U cheerleading brigade just one month ago, stating that its CryEngine3 "runs beautifully" on the system.

When asked by CVG about the prospect of Crysis 3 appearing on Nintendo's next console, producer Mike Read gave a suitable vague response, as often seems to be the case with potential Wii U projects.

I wouldn't say there's no chance. I wouldn't say no chance. I mean the Wii U still doesn't have any kind of release [date] attached to it at this point. Who knows what the future will bring with it. I can definitely say that we are working with Nintendo, and that's about all I can say on that front.

I wouldn't rule it out, but there has really been no official releases associated with the Wii U yet, and given that we're releasing Crysis in an eight month time period in February of 2013, we can't play off of what their schedules are. I wouldn't rule it out, but you know, it is a possibility.

With tight budgets it's perhaps understandable for developers to see how Wii U performs before making a commitment. It's worth noting, however, that prior to this interview Rasmus Hoejengaard, Crytek's Director of Creative Development, told Destructoid in April that there's "not a fat chance" of the title coming to Wii U.

Developer's potential commitments to Wii U seem to change every month, so once again we'll have to sit tight and see what happens.

So who knows, perhaps the wii u will get crysis 3 after all.

I'm totally disgusted...

How can we have a Ninty thread with no eccentric Scottish bloke shouting random (yet useless) facts at us?...

Nessy will be turning in his cyber-grave right now...

God bless 'im...

I am sure we will live without it,and I see people have already started to bump the thread down.

I think the thought of old ninty bringing out hi def visuals scares some people,me too just think of toad in hd,enough to make you run for the hills !

Thanks for starting the new thread - I think one was needed (and had thought about staring one myself, although I'm not as dedicated as I could be to the forum).

You managed to get a 3DS XL early, I didn't think they were being released until Saturday. I managed to try one whilst in London a couple of days ago and was impressed. I think I'll be getting the red XL idc.

Bazlurgan says:
Do you mean Friday 27th July, as the 28 July is Saturday (tomorrow), which Amazon currently have as the release date.

I'll have to pop out at lunch to my local HMV to see if they have them on sale yet!

@ John Morris

After a quick trip down to my local HMV, I'm now a proud owner of a lovely red 3DS XL :)

I just need to transfer all my games, data etc tonight from my old 3DS and try to decide whether I then want to trade it in or not (I have in the past kept all of my Nintendo portable consoles from my original brick gameboy up until now).

Thanks for the head up!

Posted on 27 Jul 2012 13:34:34 BDT
I would a 3DS xl but unfortunately it is out of my price range. Guess i'll just have to stick with my claw hand original 3ds

Posted on 27 Jul 2012 16:02:42 BDT
John Morris says:
Bazlurgan,

How do you like it?,and the transfer is not that difficult, just remember to back up your 2gb card onto your computer then overwrite the data onto the 3ds xl's 4gb card.

Cptn Cloroform,

Yes the new system is far better for long gaming sessions, and no hand cramp as of yet !
