Welcome any and all fans of Final Fantasy, i've been thinking about starting a thread for us few Final Fanatics for a while.
Mainly because any time it's mentioned on another thread it gets looked over and basically shunned.
So welcome to your new haven.
Feel free to post about anything about FF, I only ask your first post include:

1) Your favourite Character.

2) Your favourite FF Moment in a game.

3) Favourite Music or score in FF.

For me, my fave character has to be Cid in FF7
and my favourite moment, when Cloud gets on that bike and escapes with the group from Shinra Headquarters. (cloud looks too cool)

Favourite Music is a toughy, but Sephiroth's theme always stood out for me.

Hmm... I have several favourite characters though. I can't pick just one! Tifa's badass, Nanaki was awesome, Vincent was just cool... How can I choose?!

Also have a lot of favourite moments. First would probably go to the scene where Sephi burns down the town.

I loved all the beginnings and ending sequences of the FF's too, they were always brilliant.

One of my other favourites is in IX. I haven't played it in a while so the detail may be off, but I remember this scene where Zidane, Blank and Dagger are running through the woods as it's being petrified, and Blank trips over and gets petrified. That stuck with me for some reason. IX was probably played to death more than VII or VIII because I was a bit older when I played it so I played it over and over.

Maybe you should add a favourite piece of music, too? Just a thought. Not all FF fans are as massively geeky as me, but maybe there's hope :)

FF7, FF6 and FF9 all fairly close for #1 (probably FF7 pips it) but really like FF8 too. Fave character is either Zidane, Cloud or Nanaki. Best piece of music is the one that plays over the death of Aeris

Favourite music would be between Liberi Fatali (beginning of VIII) Aeris' Theme (VII) and To Zanarkand (X)

What's the FF Fan concensus on FF1-5, and FFX onwards? Personally, I loved 6-9 but didnt like the others anywhere near as much, especially FFX and FFXIII

I can't speak for every fan, but I loved FF4-10. 1+2 were good, and 3 i haven't ever played!
12 was just $hite though, 13 grew on me and i'll give it another play through at some point!!

I liked X, but onward from that? Disappointments. Loved 7-9 though, they were amazing. Haven't played 4,5 or 6.

I loved the soundtrack to FFX and there were some good characters but I hated the way it went from a more open-world feel to being basically an A-B corridor game and I wasnt a fan of the change from text to voice

Agree on the way the X played completely differently to the others; I missed the exploration that the other games had. I think I just loved the characters and the soundtrack etc enough to overlook it. Shame that can't be said for XIII.

It's a strange one for me, I would love to see it done but really unsure if it would work.

Same. I'd worry about them adding voice work, changing the battle system, 'updating' the music, etc

I'm not worried about the voice work, as long as they used the voice over actors from Advent Children i'd be happy!!!
If they touch the music, or the battle system, OR if they tried to change the view to something similar to FFXIII. I'm going to Skull F##k them!!!

But the FMV sequences would look so damn good! :)

Of course, putting my way too over the top FF7 fanboy bias aside, I'd say my favourite other FF game is 10. I'd buy the PSVita on release day for full RRP if they announced PS2 games will be compatible with it.

Also on the subject of a remake. A pure remake like what Capcom did with RE1 and I'd be over the moon. There's some updated versions of the music on youtube. If they used those it would work so, so well.

And when I say "Pure remake" i really mean nothing changed at all. Apart from the graphics of course, and maybe a few extra side bits (Like adding FF10's swapping party system?) Of course we all will have different opinions on the matter but that to me would be the perfect remake.

My fav game of all time never mind fav FF game is FF7 but my fav character is Vivi, the little mage from FF9 :-). I had a gnome mage in WoW dedicated to him lol. Not sure about the music too many good tracks to pick from.

I once renamed the FF8 Characters after the marines in Aliens!

Morning Geeks i shouldn't be posting in here as i don't consider myself a geek

Final fantasy 7 is the finest piece of gaming ever created bar none, Now let me set a scene for you. Your GCSE's are coming up so you really need to study but you get passed a game by a friend "oh whats this then?", you start the first disc and then this cut scene hits you about a girl selling flowers... Hummmm interesting.

Next 7 days is spent locked in my bedroom only stopping to eat and sleep. Nothing has ever grabbed me as much and probably never will.

Best Part.... Walking across the sand towards a red worm ohhhhhhhh whats this then??..... Ah F*ck

i called the char found in the casino d*ck head which i regretted straight away/

Anyway i've completed it 14 times so if they did a HD remake i would instantly buy it.

1) I think I'll go with Zidane or Vivi from IX - it was my first FF game, so remember it better than the others :).
2) The burning down of the Village of Mist (think that's what it's called?) in FFIV or when you wake up in the Shinra cells in FFVII and all the Shinra staff are dead...
3) FFVII - currently the only FF soundtrack I own lol.

Also, I really like IV, V and VI - I've got the FF Anthology (IV & V) and VI on disc for the PS1, as well as Origins (I & II). I also really enjoyed FF Tactics: The War of the Lions on PSP, and FF Tactics Advance on the GBA (Tactics A2 on the DS was a major disappointment). Haven't really enjoyed the main series games since X though, although I think the worst game in the series is II - the levelling up system was stupid and counter-intuitive.

Forgot about Crisis Core - was completely addicted to that game :) lol. Probably one of the best games available on PSP.
