So I ordered FIFA 14 for PS3 from Amazon a few months back and now tried to trade it in for the PS4 version. Both the trade-in website and my order history link to the exact same item, so they are identical.

They now got back to me:

After thoroughly checking your item, it was rejected due to the following reasons: Incorrect edition

This is an absolute joke and live chat isn't helpful at all, just telling me to send it in again when I get it back.

What is going on here?!

Don't even bother with live support, it's absolutely ridiculous:

Me: Again, copy/pasting prepared passages won't help me here as I followed all of that
Felix: As we will not be able to type the browser link, the only option is to copy and paste it.
Me: Copy/pasting passages TO ME won't help me here, can you not provide an individual answer? Just tell me who to contact please. If it's not you, who's the merchant?
Felix: You will not be able to contact the Merchant.
Me: How am I supposed to find out then?
Felix: The items you submit must meet the Trade-In Product Eligibility requirements as determined in sole discretion by the Merchant, or such items will be rejected.
Me: They do. They meet every single line of it. Who's the mysterious "Merchant" then?
Felix: Items are inspected upon receipt using the Trade-In Product Eligibility requirements as determined by the Merchant in their sole discretion.
Me: You said that before.
Felix: Okay. Is there anything else I can do for you today?
Me: Yes, answering my question above. Who's the Merchant if it's not Amazon?
Felix: I'm sorry, we will not be able to confirm who is the Merchant.

That is a shocking way to treat a customer!! I hate "live chat" when all they do is copy and paste, good luck!!!

Okay, called them, explained my issue three times, spent 15 minutes on hold, "Okay Sir, I can confirm the item is being returned to you. Can I help you with anything else?" - "I don't want it back.", explained the whole thing once again, spent another 15 minutes on hold and they just hung up on me. Called up again, new agent obviously didn't have a clue about what was going on, whole procedure again. They promised to get back by email.

Just got the email, confirming the reason the item got sent back is " .". Yes, that's right, just a space and a full stop. They've also added that they hope this would resolve the issue to my satisfaction. Even the second agent got back to me, confirming that the first agent just sent out the above email and saying they were glad to help me out.

This is ridiculous. Really don't know what to say. Absolutely terrible.

Third call: They have now checked their terms and conditions and can confirm PS3 games are not eligible for trade-ins.

Not sure if I want to laugh or cry.

I'm having the same issue. Customer services: there's nothing we can do.

What a joke.

I will be avoiding Amazon in future.

My FIFA 14 Ultimate Edition is being returned along with my Battlefield 4 China Rising Edition for the same reason. It is ridiculous both my games were originally bought from Scamazon & they didn't even offer the standard edition for sale at my time of ordering anyway.

It seems that if you pre-order then it will not qualify for a trade-in. It seems that the more you pay the more you get ripped off!

Apparently if the product code doesn't match then they won't accept it.

I am tempted to rent the edition they accept & just swap the inserts around & resubmit, but that would be fraudulent.

I sent my FIFA 14 (using my fathers account), and it was accepted without problem, and I have FIFA 14 (PS4) sat next to me.
Battlefield 4 - which was sent at the same time (albeit boxed seperately) but dispatched to the 'merchant' all the same, and now almost TWO weeks later, it is still showing as 'in transit or not yet received'.

Had various emails from Amazon, to and fro - asking me to wait (due to Xmas deliveries etc) to the 12th, but advised me to email freely, for updates, which I did - the reply to my 'update' emails asked me to then wait until 30th Dec!

No thanks. Firstly, PS4 games are for presents, and secondly, the offer to upgrade (and bonus £22 credit) runs out on the 31st December!

Now, I know Amazon are not responsible for their trade-ins directly, they use a third party - but the amount of negative reviews about these merchants beggars belief.
