Thanks, I am over my bout of flu but have now gone down with a cold... But a really bad one. I can't understand why this is happening as I never, ever normally get ill; but in the last two years I have been three times. The last time I was ill I was in my teens or at least mid twenties!

The work hunt is underway and I have informed my employers I am leaving. I officially hand in my notice on Monday. Scary but exciting. Watch this space.

Truth, I meant to wish you luck when you first mentioned packing in the job. Fair doos, mate

If it's any help to know this, I left for lunch when I had a job w. many perks and good pay and decided never to return from lunch. So, didn't. Have never regretted it.

You should probably be prepared to deal with a fair few 'why ever would you do such a thing?s' though . . .

The Truth says:
Yup, they've already started - though there has been much support too which is nice.

I should be fine. I'm sure I'll get something somewhere.

Paul Price says:
You know what? I haven't a clue who the top reviewers are! Sod the politics involved. I am 600 and something and if I ever break 500 then wow I will give myself a pat on the back and move on. Sod the politics involved. And if people want to intentionally go around voting down reviews for the spite of it or to maintain their position then I suggest they spent more time on building a bucket list and getting out there and embracing life cause its obvious they haven't much of one at the moment. That is not to say I don't mark down reviews. I mean if its "yeah was good" with enough ............ to make up the rest of the review so it gets pointlessly published then yeah of course! And such reviews should not have a place on here in my humble opinion. Another type that needs removing is the review by someone who hasn't even purchased the bloody product! by either criticizing the price or making prejudgments - sort it out!! So if I have irked enough people with this message to the discussion to head to my reviews and start voting down - I do know someone who does this - go ahead the problem is yours not mine. Happy days

Some people on here take their reviewer ranking far too seriously. I know two Vine members who self vote and delete and repost reviews to wash away negative votes or comments etc. Get a life.

It is impossible to know who has actually placed a vote on a review, so you cannot know if somebody is self-voting. It could have been anybody who placed those votes. You yourself could have done it.

J. Forbes says:
It is not impossible to know if somebody is self-voting. They might admit it.

Given his expressed views on the subject, I think it is unlikely that SoB is self-voting. And given the number of negs against his post, it is clear that the coven is at work, the slimy, slithering little reptiles that they are.

In reply to an earlier post on 25 Apr 2013 08:15:16 BDT
That is still no guarantee as you do not know for certain whether that person is telling the truth or not.

I did not say that he was self-voting, but rather that he could well be doing the voting on other people's reviews, to make it look like this. This as much a possibility as anything else and nobody else apart from the person who places a vote, can know one way or the other.

Aww. . . nice to see the bromance is still going strong lads.

I thought you two might have split up for a while.

I can't wait to see you both in your new sitcom, Vicious!

Toodles :)

You can see a snippet of Forbes (Freddie) and Kenneth (Stuart) in their new show here -

I was just correcting a factual inaccuracy, KJ. Of course he COULD be doing anything at all, but does it really matter?

Welcome back, Groveller. I just have to mention the word "coven", and there you are.

My post was factually accurate; yours wasn't.

You do love to argue, KJ! Unfortunately I am not in the mood, but perhaps Groveller will indulge you.

Mr Baz says:
It is quite simple from my perspective I write a review in order to be of use to a potential buyer. This is a 2 way process, as I read reviews to help me decide if something meets my needs or not. As for the rankings well it is a challenge of sorts to achieve that, but it is not the end of the world either. I'm sure the top 50 reviewers are more competitive in this regard than top 500/1000 reviewers are. I just carry on with what I feel is helping folks make informed choices.
As for integrity it is simple again, sometimes you have to land a few punches (ie be more critical) and other times you can be much more positive. I've never voted down reviews in order to boost my own ranking, that is quite absurd.

But there is no question some reviewers do play to the audience and write reviews that will attract more positive votes.

Mr B said: "But there is no question some reviewers do play to the audience and write reviews that will attract more positive votes."

Top Reviewers claim vehemently that they don't do this, but I share your suspicions. It's why I tend not to read Top Reviewers' reviews.

Sorry chaps! But at least I don't go round negging people's reviews and posts out of spite.

Mr Baz says:
I tend to review cameras quite a lot and I'm more fussy than most, in some respects quite critical. I also update my reviews if I find issues or nagging problems (or improvements) with extended use. It would be very easy for me to write 5 star reviews and bag positive votes based on that, very easy. The moment you write a more critical review you instantly attract potential negative votes from fans or buyers. You can be more careful with your wording and that might help at times, but you are treading on thin ice.

Regardless of that I still leave a review which reflects my view of the product. That is the only way to maintain integrity and genuinely be helpful to others.
It is very easy to see the top selling products and write glowing reviews on those products to gain ranking. Whilst I'm in the top 1000, I have no real ambition to make the top 500 or top 50, but some do.

J. Forbes says:
For speaking the truth, 6 out of the 11 people who have marked your post so far, marked you down. This says all that need be said, really, about the integrity of many "Top Reviewers".

And all of those six were too gutless to actually put any words on paper to argue your point. They are just petty, spineless, and malicious. Not the sort of people whose opinions I would want to listen to anyway, so I am grateful that the "Top Reviewer" designation exists.

In reply to an earlier post on 21 May 2013 11:40:28 BDT
Still trolling the boards eh Freddie! 'Petty, spineless and malicious'. Pot, kettle and black springs to mind.

Yes, Baz is telling the truth but why do you assume that it's only the supposed top reviewers or 'The Coven' voting on comments on here? Absolutely anyone be they self proclaimed top reviewer or gobby twit like you can vote and make comments trying to manipulate this thread. People tend not to post here because of people like you who only come on to antagonise. Try to be nice, you may even like it.

Come on Stuart, come and join Freddie. Can he resist? Can I? Can you?

Nevertheless Keeping well I hope Freddie.

I'll leave you to your mischief.

Ttfn :)

Just thought I'd take a quick look at your honest reviews.

It appears your integrity may be in question here according to Sparky's findings. On page 4 of the comments he's starting to go into Paxman mode.

Mr Baz says:
I bought the product and left a review. A few die hard fans attempted to pressure me into removing it. It didn't work. It actually got quite nasty but fortunately Amazon removed most of the fanboy posts. I don't cave into fanboy pressure on reviews, neither should anyone. Most people rated the review as useful, that speaks volumes to me as a reviewer, that a critical review helps a potential buyer.

Mr Baz says:
It's up to folks what they put in reviews. But let's just say I get a giggle reading some of them, a few choice lines such as "this camera changed my life" which is stretching things a bit far by anyone's standard. Some vine reviewers compain they get marked down for being on the programme, maybe they do. But I stick to my thoughts on some reviewers, I think they take the ranking system a bit too seriously (it's supposed to be fun writing a review) Saying that I note I'm now getting negative votes probably just by posting here!
