Hi Ghosty and Nicki
Thanks for your comments :-)
...yeah, it does take time and effort to write a reasonable review. I've just discovered how to put a product link in as well, which has helped me in the past when reading reviews. It's also not the easiest when trying to do it on a wee tablet (which i am forced to use most of the time these days)....everything keeps moving about!!! Grrrrr!!! Lol

Hi niki
Agree with you; since entering my....ahem...later years I have gone back to my youth and started collecting Marvel/DC books again, reviews are vital when investing in these sometimes quite pricey products.
Also when it comes to DVDs I value Amazon reviewers over the professionals any day of the week!

Best regards

Hi Morty, I do think that more people should appreciate reviewers on here (and everywhere else too of course). It takes quite a bit of time and effort to review items properly and I find it really helpful reading a good review on an item i want to buy. I am not great myself at leaving reviews but I do try. It is a good way to give back as well. Lots of people just don't have the time to leave reviews so for the people who have a bit of extra time and also get some benefit from leaving the reviews, it is a win win situation really. It is a pity you don't or can't get paid for doing it because it is such a worthwhile job :-) thanks x niki

Hi
I haven't read ALL of this discussion, but yes, I understand completely where you are coming from with regards to the thereputic side to writing reviews.

I have been very ill for over 20 years now with pretty severe M.E., frequent and very severe migraines, and in the past 3 years, severe neuropathic type pain from my butt to my feet. Am a bit of a walking health disaster area!!!! Lol

Due to various different reasons I am almost completely socially isolated, and am house bound most of the time too. I can't afford car, and I live in a rural area so can't get to the city either. Virtually all my supplies come from Tesco/Sainsbury internet shopping or Amazon! I haven't much money to play with, so reading other people's reviews on here is really important to me, so hopefully I don't end up with a heap of useless junk! It was from reading these reviews that I gradually started writing my own.

I don't mean this to sound sicky sweet or anything, but before becoming ill, I used to love helping people...either through voluntary work or just casually. I REALLY miss that!!! I hate being stuck in a body that won't function properly, and it is frustrating that I am the one that always needs the help! Recently I started writing more and more reviews on here, and looking at it from a psychological point of view....yes, it does help me!! I am constantly being helped by people on Amazon, either through the reviews or the discussions.... I have actually learnt quite a lot on here, with regards to health issues. It makes you realise you're not the only one! Writing reviews is a way of giving back, and hopefully helping others in their buying choices. I realise that I could probably get paid for reviewing on other sites, but I really like Amazon as a company, and I have found others on here to be friendly and helpful.

If it helps you.....do it!
Best wishes :-)

Incidentally JL a not helpful "vote" isn't timed and dated like a reply as far as I am aware.
So trolls can trawl with their unhelpfulness with impunity, as well as annonimity!

Someone else out there keeping late hours! Doesnt think my comments are helpful only an hour after I typed them.
Have the courage to identify yourself and say why you don't think they are, or join in and put your point of view over.
JL think this is an example of trolls at work.
