I didn't get where I am today by not watching too many British sitcoms! One sign is that one is always using lines from programmes!

The punch and judy man in Hi De Hi makes me laugh out loud. His hatred for children is just so funny. Also, give or take a few hams, it is worth a watch every now and then.

You ask demanding people what they would like their breakfast made out of.

Can't look at a chandelier without saying 'ready when you are grandad.'

If a friend has a cat you still ask if you can stroke her pussy.

Another classic Steptoe scene concerning toilet habits, don't recall it word for word but it goes something like this:
Albert is saying "There is nothing wrong with me, I go regular as clockwork every morning at 7am".
Harold replies "Yes but you don't get up until 9"

John Gammon says:
I've been watching sitcoms since the 1950s and loved Hancock, Bilko, Steptoe, Likely Lads etc, but the funniest line I've heard came out of the recent BBC sitcom Miranda. Miranda Hart has gone to see a new GP, whom she's told is called something like Dr Jenny. She assumes this is a woman, so it's a surprise when it turns out the doctor is a good looking male who explains that Jenny is his surname. Miranda is right away attracted to him. She says to herself "Miranda Jenny". Two words, but a great gag - allowing us to see precisely how this character's mind works, trying out what her name would sound like married to the doctor. Miranda Hart really is a genius.
