It will never come out over here due to musical copyright laws.

ioffer and their ilk specialise in bootleg DVDs, but that's probably the only way you'll ever get "Midnight Caller". The music companies charge an arm and a leg for the DVD rights to use their music (that's why early CSI S1 sets don't have the theme tune by "The Who"). To make enough to pay for the rights for the music + all the other "normal" costs and turn a profit the series would have to be guaranteed to be HUGE. There's certainly a market for "Caller", but it's probably not a big enough one to take the risk. "Cold Case" is unlikely to ever make DVD for much the same reason.

I think it's pretty short-sighted of the music companies, as there's a lot easier ways to leech music than cutting it out of a program that probably has dialogue and effects over the track. I think it's far more likely that someone would be inspired to buy the music, but then I'm not an over paid music exec!

C. Matthews says:
Music rights are bought for broadcast, but often at the time not for home video usage (not surprising). Where there are uses of multiple songs, clearance becomes a vastly costly business at the DVD stage - eg Wonder Years - and simply not affordable. Shame, but there you have it.

I agree with all the comments here regarding Midnight Caller on DVD and it's a real shame about the music licensing issues. First time I recall seeing Gary Cole on television was this series, thought he was excellent....this show definitely made an impact on a lot of people, seeing as this thread was started well over two years ago lol ^_^

The HMV item has, as the latest review, a date of 2010, so I think I'd hesitate before holding my breath. I think HMV's "coming soon" may be "never".

I hope that it is not never, I hope that it is soon.
