I read a book when I was a kid and would like to read it again. It is set in tunnels, but the reader does not know that, and is about two clans of people - one with eyes open and one with eyes shut. They then face an invading force, which turns out to be on thier side, trying to rescue them. Many years before there was an atomic war and people were sent to tunnelled air raid shelters, in this one the lights went out and it is about how they adapted over centuries, until they were found by the survivors in the other tunnels. Anyone know this book - title and author please

Ken O'Neill says:
This seems sort of familiar, but I think it was a novella collected in Issac Asimov's part-biography part 1930s pulp anthology "Before the Golden Age".

Got it! The book is called Dark Universe by Daniel Galouye. Apparently it is out of print now but the person I borrowed it from managed to get a copy from somewhere which specialisd in out of print books. I've found it on Amazon but not for Kindle.

My mistake - there IS a Kindle edition.

Thanks Davina - that's the one. Ordered it from amazon. Really appreciate your finding out for me, I have been looking for months. Can't wait to receiving it, just hope it is as good as I remember, or has time warped the memory.!!!
