The original film is 210 mins long, is there any way to get this, or is the 2 hr version worth buying

It's my understanding that there is currently a project to restore a recently discovered full print of Metropolis (with the exception of one badly damaged scene). How they'll eventually release the film is unknown.
As for the current two-hour version, in my opinion it's definately worth buying and watching. The film isn't to everyone's taste but I like it.

I second that.

R. Nicklin says:
Suggest you watch the film with Kraftwerk Man Machine playing at max volume - really works

I agree, it's worth watching the available 2 hour version. Looking at IMDB, the 210 minute version was the director's premiere version. It wasn't that well received which is why it was cut. It's interesting that a full version may one day be available but I wouldn't wait for that.

Now, can anybody locate a complete version of Orson Welles' The Magnificent Ambersons - the only version available has about a third missing.
