Hi I remember this scene from a kids tv show back in the late 70's or early 80's These children are trapped in an old farm house/Cottage and these " Blob shaped creatures are surrounding the old farm house/Cottage. There is a radio on the mantle place I think the creatures are talking through it? Also maybe the "Blobs are glowing" And I guess the Creatures/blobs are very very slowly moving toward the farm house/cottage. Hope you all can help me! Thanks John

SP says:
I reckon it was Escape into Night. The blobs were stones covered in eyes, which is an image that has remained with me. I gather Network released it on DVD. Apparently ITV based the series on Marianne Dreams by Catherine Storr and there is also a 90's movie version called PaperHouse (which I know I've seen but didn't leave quite the same impression).

Unless you have the Three Doctors in mind?

Hi Simon just looked at some clips on you tube and yes it is Escape the Night! Thanks so much I've always wanted to know what that show was! Ive just recently watched other shows from the 70's I loved too. I just bought The Children Of The Stones and Sky loved them as a kid. Thanks so much!

Hi John and Simon
I absolutely LOVED Marianne Dreams as a kid; it scared me silly.
I don't remember seeing Escape into Night though - it'll go on my Xmas list right away.
Thanks for the reminder ;-)

Children of the Stones? No, I missed that one as well, but you mentioned Sky in your earlier post - was that the mystical alien boy with completely blue eyes? I remember dashing back to watch that series back in the day ;-)

Hi yeah Sky was the Alien with the blue eyes released on DVD by Network, had this for xmas last year good stuff. Check out The Children Of The Stones its really decent thriller for its time. Managed to get a copy cheap from Ebay £5 pounds! And can you remember The Clifton House Mystery? Im Originally from Bristol and it was made by HTV TV company (ITV) regional to the west country, not sure if it played nationwide?

The Clifton House Mystery? No, again I'm afraid that's not ringing any bells.
I will check out the Children of the Stones and, if Santa's feeling particularly generous, I'll put Sky on the list as well;-) Although it's not always good to try to recapture childhood faves - I remembered Danger Mouse being brilliant, but I was disappointed by it when I saw it again recently.
But then, 'the past is a foreign country: they do things differently there'...

Lets hope Santa is feeling generous then! I am with you revisiting childhood favs. I was just curious I could understand what made me like those programs when I was younger, it was nice to pop down memory lane! Danger Mouse lol good fun back in the day! :)

Sad to see that Mark Hall of Cosgrove Hall - makers of Danger Mouse and many other animation series - died yesterday.

Yes. It's remarkable really; the lasting effect that just a handful of people can have on generations of kids :-)

I remember the clifton house mystery but nothing much more about it than the title. However I'm not in the htv region so it must therefore have played nationwide.
