I've just found this an oldish Sfi & fantasy fan:- mainly books but also films & tv.I found it very interesting. One film I saw years ago and have not seen since was No blade grass ( book based)anybody know if it is on dvd? Also reading a lot of the discussion about tv series no body has mentioned tripods.

If you haven't read John Christopher's other end of the world novels -, they're good - Empty World, A Wrinkle in the Skin and The World in Winter.

Also read Simon Clarks homage to Wrinkle in teh Skin called King Blood

Can recommend reading the tripods books - adds to the tv series and gives the proper ending.

Ref: Whoops Apocalypse
Thanks for mentioning Simon Clarks "King Blood".
I thought it a very good book but when I metioned it on another discussion some weeks ago I was shot down by Anita.
Good to see Iam not the only one who thought it worth reading!

P.S. I read the 1st & 2nd Tripod books about 40 years ago, have never read the last one, always wondered what happened.
Did they stop the aliens from terraforming (?)the Earth.

yes, fantastic - especially the second series when will & co. infiltrate the tripods 'city of gold'. got the whole first series on dvd, but never found the second one. have to say: begging to be remade!!! hopefully, if they do, they'll focus on the characters (just like all old sci-fi had to because the effects were usually so dire!) and compliment them with the visual instaed of dominating the story. discuss.

M. French says:
I loved watching the tripods as a kid on TV and reading the books - haven't read them for - well longer than I care to admit! The books I guess are long gone from my parents loft - will have to search them out at the library! Well whilst we still have a library anyway :-(

Found the the third book in the Tripods series years after the second series. The Pool of Fire. So I know how it ended. Wish it had been finished on TV.
