Hi, I'm a huge fan of Harry Harrison, in particular his Stainless Steel Rat and Bill the Galactic Hero books. Can anyone suggest any books or authors along these lines? I also like more serious high-tech works too, so any suggestions regarding this would also be appreciated.

Perhaps recently released 'Galaxy Rising' by John Otto might be worth a look at. Check out product description....1 review out on US amazon (mine). 'Galaxy Rising' is the 3rd book in the 'Footprints in the Dust/ Broken Planet' trilogy....you can check out these as well. 'Galaxy Rising' is a big book (trade paperback) with high science backing up the story line which should suit you ....plenty of surprises.
