R. Reel says:
Apparently several commentries have been recorded for the pertwee era including ambassadors of death, the Deamons, invasion of the dinosaurs and planet of spiders, one of which was recorded in 2001, so don't hold your breath For them immedatly

Sophie says:
They do a load at once when someone now living abroad (like Katy manning) comes to the country for a convention, and just hold the tape until the DVD is ready. It looks odd, but it does at least mean we'll still be hearing from Barry Letts.

Paul Tapner says:
just checking the bbfc website for recent classification decisions and it shows theyve given a certificate to a deleted scene from the creature from the pit. so that must be coming to dvd sooner rather than later.

there are short clips from the daemons and terror of the autons in the extras on the peladon dvds but they must have been taken from the videos as theyve clearly had no work done on them

According to the Dr Who News Page THE TALONS OF WENG CHIANG is to be one of the re-issues included on the Revisitations boxset later this year.
Even if this boxset doesn't take a release slot for the other planned stories,I can't really see the logic in 2 Entertain's DVD release strategy.
With several classics such as TERROR OF THE ZYGONS/AUTONS,THE SEEDS OF DOOM and THE DAEMONS still languishing in the archives,is it not a pointless exercise to re-issue a story-which when initially released in 2003-was already a proper extras packed 2 disc edition?
I can just about understand including the likes of THE ROBOTS OF DEATH and SPEARHEAD FROM SPACE in the boxset,as they were released almost a decade ago with hardly any extras that we are accustomed to with the current DVDs.
I don't particularly like moaning, because Im well aware that if it was not for 2 Entertain they would not be regularly releasing classic Dr Who on DVD....but even so.

Sophie says:
Maybe they'll CGI that crap rat so it looks realistic. But yeah, Talons is OK for extras, that one's a head scratcher. Re release scheduling, don't forget Remembrance of the Daleks was reissued out of schedukle (ie without delaying other releases), maybe these will as well. And if not, it may delay the Zygons by another month (out of 34 years), but then it puts off The Mutants as well...

So far, they are, or rumored to release Spearhead from Space, The TV movie,Vengance on Varos, with Remberence of the Daleks released, making the only other one from the first year of releases is The Caves of Adrozoni, mabe that will be re-released.

I've just seen the new covers for The Time Monster and Underworld. The Time Monster looks good, though the Underworld one looks rather flat. You can see them on classicdw's twitter.

Sophie says:
The underworld one is a rough, perhaps they'll work on it more. But then again Underworld itself is pretty rough.

I don't know why, but I saw the Masque Of Mandragora for sale in WHSmith yesterday, not for pre-order.

Third title of Revisitations box set to be revealed tomorrow

In reply to an earlier post on 17 Feb 2010 17:12:16 GMT
M. Mullings says:
James,

What are the first two titles? Do you know how many titles will be included in total?

Posted on 17 Feb 2010 19:06:22 GMT
The three in total re-releases are The TV Movie, The Talons Of Weng Chiang, and The Caves of Androzani, as I deducted two weeks ago.

The next release after myths and legends is creature from the pit.

In reply to an earlier post on 1 Mar 2010 17:38:56 GMT
Sophie says:
Oh good, I can save my pennies for another month. tbh the rest of this year looks pretty forgettable apart from revisitations. The rumoured of Mind of Evil would satisfy me, but only if it's confirmed. You can't watch a rumour.

R. Reel says:
Creature from the pit is released in may and there is no release for April

M. Mullings says:
"Myths & Legends" is effectively the April release (coming out 29 March) as it will be the second release in March.

Rumour mill time :-

Tom Baker is to record a Commentary for 'The Seeds of Doom' and it's been penciled in for release in 2011.

In reply to an earlier post on 31 Mar 2010 22:09:48 BDT
M. Mullings says:
Think this is more than a rumour, as Play.com is offering a prize to meet Tom prior to his recording of the commentary.
