You could try Kathleen E Woodiwiss's 'The Wolf and the Dove' which is long and very romantic. Most of hers are a good solid read. Another long, romantic tearjerker is Green Darkness by Anya Seton. A personal favourite of mine (though difficult to find) is Edin's Embrace by Nadine Crenshaw.

If you're after something a little more modern not specifically from the 'romantic' genre but pretty romantic nevetheless you could try The Glass Books of the Dreameaters by G W Dalhquist.

Aside from that, if you're after specifically 'romantic' novels then I would recommend just about anything from Madeline Hunter. Her Seducer series and her Medieval series are both great and although not particularly lengthy as individual books, you have the bonus of them coming in groups of five follow on novels.

Finally, (forgive my random recommendations, i'm typing as they come to me), you could try 'Carter Beats the Devil' which again, is not of the romantic genre per se but is a cracking read and has enough romantic elements to satisfy that angle.

An eclectic group for you but all good stuff. The ultimate 'long' romantic novel however would have to be 'Rebecca' by Daphne Du Maurier. A must in any collection.

Try Jodi Picout's and Anita Shreve's books.

I like Deborah Smith's books e.g. When Venus Fell, Bear Mountain, A Place to call Home, The Crossroads Cafe, Gentle Rain, Charming Grace, Sweet Hush.

Nora Roberts, a prolific writer, writes romances, romantic suspense and witchy/fae novels. Try her Cheasapeake quartet, her Callahan Sisters trilogy etc. very good. Then there's her romantic suspenses e.g. Northern Lights, Black Hills etc., and her very good Three Sisters trilogy.

Joann Ross is also very good - books like the lovely Legend's Lake; Shelter Bay series; The Callahan Brothers trilogy, Blue Bayou, River Rd, Magnolia Moon; Stewart Sisters trilogy etc.

Try Maeve Binchy's books.

Also Frenchman's Creek by Daphne DuMaurier - adventure and romance.

Nora Roberts "In Death" series writing as J.D. Robb. There are over 30 of them.

May I brag? One of my readers recently sent me an Eve Dallas hat signed by Nora Roberts. Eve is the h in the series. I feel so privileged when I wear it.

Try The Bay at Midnight by Diane Chamberlain. It's not fantasy. Having looked at what you have read, do you want timetravel, paranormal, fantasy?

Try Christine Feehan's Drake Sisters trilogy.
J R Ward - Black Daggar Brotherhood series.

For timetravel and romance, try Karen Marie Monings Highlander series. Full of Sidhe (faeries), druids. Read in sequence if possible. She then follows this with a sequal series ".... Fever" series. This is much, much darker and less romantic. It's about the dark Sidhe and the fight to save earth from them. It has some of the druid characters from Highlander in it. You do need to read this series strictly in sequence though because of the time sequences in the plot.

The Game of Kings (Legendary Lymond Chronicles) by Dorothy Dunnet and Niccolo Rising: The House of Niccolo both are incredibly complex historical love stories stretching over several novels and both are the first novels in a separate but connected series. Very compelling and fascinating. Just think of Diana Gabaldon author of Cross Stitch and the book Gone with the Wind on turbo charge.
