Monique says:
Not sure if I titled it correctly but I'm desperately seeking romance suggestions with the following plot:

The Hero must be a Mixed Martial Arts fighter/ Boxer/ Cage fighter/ or anything equally harsh/brutal. He rarely smiles and people are generaly scared of him, but when he meets the heroine, he's kind and generous and gentle with her, and his only softness is towards the heroine.

I don't really like historicals but will give it a try. Contemporary and paranormal are my favorite though.

Oh yeah, and if possible, in Kindle format since it's hard to find paperbacks in SA, and if you do, you pay nearly a arm and a leg for them! (But if it's only available in paperback, I'd still appreciate the help)

I know this is a long shot but I'm really hoping that the wonderful peeps of the Amazon Discussion could help me. Any genre is welcome!

(In by tbr pile I have: J.R. Ward's Crave and 'Beautiful Disaster' by Jamie Mcguire
I'm currently readying Batterd Hearts 1: Defying the Odds by Kele Moon which also fits)

Thanx in advance
M

Lori Foster writes a series about SBC fighters. It looks like they are on Kindle.

Hi Monique, I can recommend the following two medieval romance novels `Viking Sword Saxon Shield' and `Vikings Saxon Holocaust' that are available on kindle downloads. The main story line is about a young Romani warrior Edward, Eddie who arrives in England as a Vikings rowing slave. This guy actually existed! He was an exceptional fighter in a harsh and brutal time when the martial arts guys weren't playing at fighting; they fought to the death... Both novels are based around actual battles around the east coast of England at the end of the 10th century, during the reign of King Aethelred. Eddie escapes from the Vikings and when King Aethelred's youngest daughter Princess Catherine is kidnapped by the Vikings he saves her and is rewarded by being made the Princesses bodyguard... Of course he falls madly in love with her. Not only are the vast social status differences but her father the King has sent her for an arranged marriage to cement his alliance with the son of the second most powerful noble in his Kingdom. Viking Sword Saxon Shield Viking! Saxon Holocaust

Wow, can't thank you enough for the recommendation of Kele Moon's battered hearts Monique, i read it when i saw your post and my god what a fantastic combination of sweet love story and sizzling romance.I would second the recommendation on Lori foster's SBC fighters with the exception of 'My man Micheal' which went off on an unexpected sci fi tangent.

Yes, My Man Michael was disappointingly weird.

To be honest Monique, your request is so specific that I think that we "wonderful people" will have a hard time fulfilling it. As I said Lori Foster is the only writer I personally know of that writes SBC fighter books and even hers don't fit all your requirements of the hero. The only other books I can think of that might give you want you want are as gary suggested, historicals with knights, lairds, vikings etc. Other than those there are the Navy Seal type books. Below are suggestions for both (I haven't read all the authors):-

Historicals:
Monica McCarty
Mary Wine
Margaret Mallory
Paula Quinn
Hannah Howell
Sue Ann Welfonder
Maya Banks
Julianne McLean

Seals etc:
JoAnne Ross
Melissa Schroeder
Teresa Reasor
Mariss Melton
Lisa Marie Rice
Lora Leigh
Gennital Lowe (Gennital???)
Stephanie Tyler
Suzanne Brockman
Catherine Mann

Noah by Elizabeth Reyes

I found the above book by putting Battered Hearts into Amazon Search, Books, above. Clicking on the book, then scrolling down the page until I came to the horizontal listing of 'like' books and scrolling through. No doubt there are others there. Do that for the other books you have listed as liking and you'll probably find more. Also, Amazon should recommend you some in your "recommendations", although they often recommend somewhat weird choices. I've had The Bible and Wisden recommended in the past LOL.

Breakaway - Cher Carson
Chasing Nikki - Lacey Weatherford
True Love & Other Disasters - Rachel Gibson
To Beguile a Beast - Elizabeth Hoyt

Haven't read any of the above except for the Elizabeth Hoyt one which was enjoyable. They may or may not be what you want, check them out.

Try Montana Blue by Genell Dellin. A very good read, even though it's not about sportsmen or fighters. It fits your requirements re. the description of the man. Very enjoyable.

Connor's Way - Laura Lee Guhrke
