Technically not one for the rock forum, but I was massively underwhelmed by Underworld's Dubnobasswithmyheadman after all the rave reviews it got.

This feeling you've described doesn't really happen anymore since I have a subscription account with Napster and just listen to everything that's new anyway - some things disappoint but there is no longer that urgent anticipation that causes you to rush to the shops and that sense of being let down when you get back home.

This is probably more rock for you - in the eighties my parents owned a metal/indie orientated record shop, and I remember the jaws of the regulars hitting the floor when Judas Priest's Turbo was first given an airing.

Have you ever rushed out and bought an album only to find it's a big disappointment? I have, many times. Here's just a few:-

Quadraphenia The Who never did it for me
London Calling The Clash never did it for me
The Division Bell Love DSOTM, WYWH, and Animals but this was a
big let down
