This is totally and utterly unacceptable and needs to be stopped.

I notice my opening post has had a vote against it. Now normally I wouldn't comment about votes I receive either positive or negative however if in this case there is someone out there who disagrees that hanging a woman for changing her mind about which religion she follows is unacceptable and needs to be stopped then I hope they will make a post explaining their view.

Sounds like a CWB thing to me G.H. As he would go along with that kind of thing, personally I found it revolting.

I don't think the Sudanese government will stop it WDB just because of a petition do you?

Dan Fante says:
Yeah, I guess you might say that ;-). Look at it this way, Stu. I think people thought it was out of order reporting someone for something minor, as it were. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. I think you should just say at the time if you take issue with something rather than reporting it. In a case like this at least. No big deal though. I just couldn't see what got your goat about BAP. You might not agree with them but they engage in debate and aren't offensive. Just my opinion. I think people probably commented because it seemed a bit out of character on your part.

I hope people will do something to help this situation I intend to write to my MP, in the mean time since Amnesty International have been involved in this case I have now joined them.

Spin,

We can choose to help our fellow human beings or we can choose to harm them, I hope to try in a small way to help.

Bearman says:
We may not be able to police the world, nor have the right to do so, but surely it is our moral duty to try and secure human rights for both individuals like this and populations, who suffer from being denied those rights?

Actually I have just e-mailed my MP, I went on to his site and e-mailed him from there. The advantages are that I was able to include the link to the BBC report and of course the e-mail will get there sooner and in the case of an execution time is most important so if you wish to I would suggest that you do the same.

"But help from a small number of folk in foreign nation will not be substantial enough to make a difference."

If the woman can be saved from execution it will make a difference to her.

OK I will find his/her e-mail address out and do it that way, thanks.

Dan Fante says:
It certainly can't do any harm to raise this issue with MPs etc. If it does help this poor woman or even just raises the issue to help others in the future then it is most certainly a worthwhile exercise. Some people, on the other hand, just like to have a pop no matter what.

Sent her an e-mail as you suggested G.H. do you get a reply back to confirm, or will they get in touch any other way?

In reply to an earlier post on 15 May 2014 15:13:03 BDT
No, but it might make Heron feel better.

One can disagree with something like this (and I do vehemently), but not a lot can be done.

While I don't think that there is much that can be done in this case, the problem it seems is with the application of Sharia Law in Sudan. If Islam treats all non-Islamic people as second class and not able to marry, they are effectively engaged in ethnic cleansing, using any excuse to get rid of non-Islamic people short of murdering them on the spot.

The Sudanese case is not unique. There have been similar cases of ill-treatment of non-Muslims in Egypt and Iran that I am aware of. Anyone know if this is specific to those places or part of the Q'ran?
