Stu says:
Most of the teams involved in the world cup are of religious status, and will all be doing their crosses and looking skyward just before kick-off.
I wonder how many posters will not be posting whilst the matches are on, including theists?

Well Stu, this morning the ex chief rabbi Jonathan Sachs was on the radio doing thought for the day. Apparently 20 years ago when he and Carey were first appointed to their posts (Chief Rabbi & Archbishop of Canterbury) he realised they were both fanatic Arsenal supporters.. They were both invited to the first home game after their appointment in a sort of ecumenical display. They arrived, were greeted on the hallowed turf in front of all the fans and received a cheque for charity. The fans went wild with delight. With two such luminaries supporting what could go wrong? Everything apparently. Arsenal suffered their worst home defeat (6-2) since WW2. Apparently God supports Manchester United..!

Football is a religion in Brazil, that is why Vollyball is seen as the no 1 sport :)

God was definitely on the side of Brazil. A soft penalty and Neymar not sent off for deliberately elbowing an opponent. A Good start for the home team!

England's only chance of winning is through divine intervention. So I expect they will be on the plane home very soon.

Well it wouldn't do to have the home team lose the very first match now, would it ?? ;)

As for your opening question stu, I shall be posting as irregularly as ever. My cheapy freeview box likes to drop out the sky at 6pm, just in tim for the football lol

Why is it that foreign footballers who play here, do all the usual praying and stuff before a match but you never see any of our players doing the same? You can't tell me that all English/British players are non religious.

Since both Christianity and Judaism were represented are we ruling out the possibility that Allah is the one true god, and a Man Utd fan? Not a fan of the beautiful game myself, rugby for me. Wales playing South Africa tomorrow afternoon and I am out for a meal with my wife and some friends tomorrow night, will have to pace myself.

Well my box is sure to crap out by 9pm !!
So I will take advantage and watch while I can :) And maybe if I'm really lucky, it'll still be working.
What I like about the World Cup is teams tend to put more effort in, especially the smaller countries. Like they've got massive pride to represent their country and give it their all...not like England hahah

Just got a nice long slow-mo shot of a Mexicans semi see-through boxers !!! hahah thanks ITV xD

In all seriousness Chief, did you manage to catch any of the game last night?

Thought they played pretty well in the second part of the first half and then first part of the second half but we knd of lost our way in the final 15-20 minutes of the second half. As a United fan, i will admit Sturridge and Stirling are the real deal. Great pass from Stirling to Rooney and then Rooney's brilliant cross into the box for Sturridge to get on an score a great equealizer :)
