Hi Isobel,

Your point struck a chord with me. Here's a sample of a post to me, which, unsurprisingly, I requested to be deleted. Yet it's still there, so presumeably it's acceptable forum talk..

The person writes to me:

"There is no indignity, no pain, no terror that you do not deserve, and that you know that you do not deserve. You know that you are going to be very sorry indeed for posting here. But you cannot help yourself."

This charming post is an actual threat. Threats apparently are ok on here? Needless to say, I don't read any of that person's posts anymore.

The forum moderation has definitely gone off the rails recently.

If you try engage in that time-honoured advice "to put yourself in the other person's shoes",.... perhaps it might help ease the collective 'browned-off' attitude pervading this forum towards our Amazon moderators.

I mean, how much job satisfaction would there be in being an invisible moderator ? You can never contribute, only take away others' contributions. It can hardly be a high status job with exciting career prospects and opportunities to meet stimulating people and travel the world.

Probably the person responsible works out of his own home, doesn't have any colleagues, and the big events of the day are the arrivals of the postman and the milk man.

So,... to go off the rails and arbitrarily and randomly delete posts just to get up people's noses,.... I find a perfectly understandable diversion under the circumstances. Maybe he/she,... just wants to be part of the gang, but fate has cast him into the role of the isolated and lonely moderator.

Next time you feel a 'slag-off' coming on,... spare a moment's thought for our lonely moderator in his thankless job. Sometimes it must seem better to be off the rails, than on them.

Okay, I've spared them a thought.

I don't think that thought would get past the moderators, though.

Was it that obvious, or did you remember the post lol. My crime was a grammatical error in one of my earlier posts. I think what's nearly as worrying as amazon passing it as acceptable, is that 5 people voted the post helpful! :/

"5 people voted" - probably just the vote bot. S/he/it/they vote for Jim, for reasons hard to understand!

I think Amazon actually take the voting seriously - they mentioned it when I complained to them a while ago about the inconsistencies in deletions. So that's why they probably haven't deleted the post to you, which is definitely out of line, because it's had 'adds to the discussion' votes.
