Henry James says:
Thanks for all those references Margaret.
I, too, am amazed at how much Wayne don't know (sic) but thinks he does.
And I love him like a brother. And everyone knows how much I loved William.

>Sadly I don't have time to investigate every ancient myth.<

OMGoodness. Are you seriously telling me that you blindly beleive everything you are told without the need to find out for yourself?
I don't think we have any more to say.....
Regards
Margaret

Dear James
The Bible must be read INTELLIGENTLY...just like any other literature.

Otherwise, Jesus is a door - a piece of wood with hinges!
What nonsense!
Only an ignoramus would read this literally; it's a metaphor!

Only an ignoramus would apply the Old Testament to Christianity today.
A NEW covenant is in place (Read Jeremiah ch 31)

But when Jesus says in John that "I come that you might have life and have it more abundantly" take that literally,
because it is true.
I prove it daily,
and no-one can deny me.

Do not confuse RELIGIOSITY with Christianity:
the former is a monstrosity, the latter the greatest blessing a man can experience!

And, ps, don't mock what you've never tasted.

Neil

Some might say only an ignoramus believes anything the Bible says, much less base their lives and morality on it.

Unless it's crystal meth or domestic abuse.

do you mean ................The Bible is the inspired Word of Almighty God and He does make mistakes................... or that he does not make mistakes?

how do you know that god inspired the contents of the bible rather than the concept of god inspiring the contents?

so are you saying that if we take out all contradictions and inconsistencies as well as the parts that are meant to be allegorical then what we have left can be taken literally?

why did god not ensure that the contents of his holy book are as he wanted them to be? surly god must have allowed the translations you mention to be inaccurate?

if there are mistakes in the bible does that mean those making those mistakes were not inspired by god?

do you think there are inspired words of god existing outside of the bible?

So the Bible has never been proven wrong about the origins of man, the age of the Earth, the position of the Earth and the Sun...?

Try again, Alan.

nooooooooooooooooooo.............. the bits that have been proved wrong are either part of the scientific community's cover up of the truth or are allegorical and mean something quite different! it's really quite simple; the bible is the truth so anything in the bible that doesn't hold up to scrutiny can't be what we think it is and has to be interpreted to mean something else! oh plus some people not inspired by god might have put some stuff in there when god wasn't looking and he never proof read it afterwards so they are still in there.

Pipkin says:
And so did I,
By shaking off the noose of the Catholic church and seeking for myself... and gained freedom by reading history and the truth began to emerge. Making far more sense than the gobble de gook that is in the bible, which has to have a special interpeter before YOU can understand it..
Spirituality has nothing whatsoever to do with any religion... it is within each of us from our inception.

Drew Jones says:
"They put down all Christianity, cannot discern religiosity (a bane) from a work of God,..."
Yeah, because there's that correct Christianity and bad Christianity that God just let's get in the way. Smart fella.

"They are jumped-up fools, deceived by their own pride!"
And no one would want to be that.
