P. G. James says:
I've never been able to fathom out what Peter Cetera of Chicago sings at the very end of 'Hard to say I'm Sorry'. According to one lyric sheet I've seen the line is, "Love's going to be the lucky one", but when I hear the record it doesn't sound like that at all.

DAMN! I was wrong, it will obviously run and run. Ever think you might come home to the Album Tag site Sera? The neighbours are beginning to ask questions and little Paisley said "doesn't daddy love us anymore?" the other day.

This is the best thread ever - one that actually makes sense to me - its got topical polotics, humour and of course sparkling musical knowledge and taste - all the other threads should be abandoned so everyone can focus onthis one - a clever and original question by P. G. James who then masterfully disappeared, leaving others as mere echoes....footnotes to the initial thrilling, landmark trend-setting, dark and edgey Post...

hypergod says:
73, I take it 'polotics' is something like politics but about mints, right? And 'edgey' means that tosser out of U2 has something to do with it, presumably he posts through a massive barrage of effects so every letter becomes a sentence (or something)? Am I right? Yes? Well?

In reply to an earlier post on 26 Oct 2008 16:09:45 GMT
er...yes HyperGod - Dark And Edgey will be the name of my new album - in stores in time for xmas - the title being an absolutely hilarious attempt to misdirect and dumbfound critics who will of course be helpless to describe the contents of the album without refering to its title
as for mispelling politics is was an unforgivable stupidity - I can only blame my dxslexear

I'd really like to help on this one as I know how frustrating these things can be, but it would have to be a pure guess as I have not heard the song in question and have received no clues to date, but here goes - based on the evidence posted could it be 'I want a fire engine for Christmas' ?

In reply to an earlier post on 26 Oct 2008 18:15:00 GMT
hypergod says:
73, I was desperately trying to be funny but not, I hope, at your expense! For a start, you can't afford it. No way are you stupid, just typo prone!

It sounds to me more like 'I WAS a fire engine for Christmas', but I could be wrong.

In reply to an earlier post on 26 Oct 2008 18:27:11 GMT
No offence Mr Hypergod ; I think the line was 'a fire engine for life not just Christmas' but I have never heard the song and may not be 100% accurate

hypergod says:
No, you're thinking of 'A fire engine for my wife, not just Christine', the song John Leslie wrote about a wife swapping party he'd once attended where he'd tried to haggle with John McVie!

I was tempted to post on 'crumbling thread' but you seemed so peaceful I didn't like to disturb you.

Sparky says:
At the risk of sounding like Paul Merton- which would be an improvement, granted - Does this song actually exist ??

Which song, the one that the thread is ostensibly about or the infamous John Leslie track?

In reply to an earlier post on 27 Oct 2008 12:16:25 GMT
Sparky says:
Hi Hyper, Just to be clear is it John Leslie you are describing as infamous or the track?
Also is 'haggle' a euphemism here?
Lastly, on reflection, I think it is ambulance not fire-engine as it scans better.

hypergod says:
Hello Sparky, the answers to your questions are.......
a) The track.
b) No.
c) The scansion is unaltered as the syllables remain the same. Ask your piano! (It is conceivable that this 'joke' has been done to death. Discuss!).

Sparky says:
Hey Hyper, You're absolutely right (hypergod is your real name isn't it ?). I mean't lorry not ambulance. Might even get it to rhyme eventually if I adjust the word order (or preferably change it altogether - except for lorry).

It's not my real name, just my occupation!

hi hypergod, saw a blue plaque the other day to H.G. Wells always wondered what H.G. stood
for, now we know!
By the way Sparky you'll get more rhyming milage out of truck than lorry

Truck - that's exactly the word I was looking for !! I think we've cracked it guys.
