Yer tiz

One of our number has already booked their tickets to get to Oxford on 18 Sept - it would be rather rude not to join them.

Venue - The Swan and Castle (aka Oxford Castle / the old prison) close to both rail and bus stations, not far from the City Centre and on the P+R route too.

As for start time - some may be there by 12:30 to 13:00 ish, others arriving by 15:00 ish (transport depending) but if anyone needs a target time then somewhere between 12:30 and 15:00 should do it !!!

Me - I'm aiming to be there by around 13:00.

☺ ☺ ☺

As at 18 Sep (No more sleeps to go - except for on the train etc - but don't sleep through or you could end up in Swindon - or worse still Didcot !):

Yup, I'm in, been trawling the net for some suggestions for K to sample, haven't found anywhere better than Sciz's suggestion yet.

EDIT: yummy yummy mc.

I'll be there! I have already put forward the suggestion of The Victoria Arms in old Marston. Krytical knows the place as well, I'll not be able to shoot up their and research the place as it's a bit too far for me. Perhaps Krytical would be able to put in a little visit and maybe have a word with the landlord/lady?

So who else is up for cycling there and leaving their velo in the middle of a pedestrian thoroughfare alongside X hundred others?

Bloody students!!!

Greysuit says:
Nah - I'll probably punt it !

Just had a look Mark - menu looks very appetizing with small portions as an option too. Wadworths ain't such a bad brew - there are worse (that's not fair - I'm not familiar with the Horizon and I'll probably avoid the 6X but the Henry's is a good drop of ale !)

Looks good as a starter for 10.

Schiz; I'm sure I read somewhere ..... no music at the vic!! don't bother me as beer = banter.

I wasn't aware of the no music thing. but officially there isn't any at the Windsor Castle but they didn't mind on a Saturday afternoon when we took over one side...maybe they'd feel the same way at the Victoria? Again would need to have a chat with the ladlord/lady if K. can't get over there one of us could do it over the phone. It would be preferable if someone could actually scout the place out in person's been a 6 or 7 years since I was last there. Do let me know if you can't manage it Krytical and we'll come up with something else.

Toffeeman says:
Looks easy to find and easy to park. I guess the comments about it being busy wouldn't be a problem at that time of year.

Krytical says:
Well we've picked a date, a town and the time is usually the same, so over the next couple of weeks I shall do some scouting. After all, it would be remiss of me to not dedicate as much 'research' into this as Schiz did...

Oxford is full of great pubs! I have two relatives there, who have done their 'homework'. :)

Well come on then Leftin! Let's have them. Of course that means you'll be finally showing your face to the rest of us?

What Schiz is trying to say Leftin is can any of your Oxford based relatives spare a room for the night? ☺

In reply to an earlier post on 9 Jun 2010 19:21:16 BDT
Nah Liquid! Oxford is near enough for me to stumble onto the late train to Paddington!

Leftin: Do any of these great pubs do B&B as well? It'd be great if we could stay in one place.
