Not to mention the two gilt-edged chances RVP would have stuck away for fun;o)

Can't really complain, Newcastle lost only 3 home games last season (Chelsea, Man City, West Brom), and I thought we played pretty well. Our main concern is other than Defoe, where our are goals going to come from?

I predicted West Ham to win 1.0 but other than that I think my predictions were shocking!

MC Zaptone says:
The opening games of the season through up some unforeseeable results and yet the mighty punters managed to squeeze a few points between them.
Val & Wharfy got a jump on the rest of us with 4 points apiece, well done.
Sj; Neph; RedJohn; Lez & Mark K all came up with 2 points each.
Greysuit & Philip are both off the mark with 1 point.
The rest of us got zilch!
Remember it is always a bit hit & miss for the first couple of weeks then it always settles down.

Right, no point in doing the league table just yet so on with the second punt of the season:
Saturday 25th Aug. (8 games) & Sunday 26th Aug. (2 games)
If you are going to punt before Wed. 22 DON'T FORGET to enter a score for the midweek Chelsea vs. Reading game AND PRESS UPDATE TABLE before doing the weekend games.
Thanks for playing and have a good week.
Ps. Neph; RedJohn & RAB welcome to your first punt, hang on in there, it gets slightly easier once the title /relegation battle begins.

RABB says:
Not discouraged in the least MC. I run the tipping comp over on the video games forum and still only manage to be mid-table on a good week! Also means I know what a headache this can be so cheers for your efforts.

I take it there's a benefit to waiting after the Chelsea match then.

MC Zaptone says:
RAB, a slight advantage, later in the season I usually offer an extra point or two for punting before the midweek games but at the moment it ain't going to matter that much when you punt.

Val H. says:
Wow, sitting on top (with Wharfy) on a massive FOUR points!! Go us!!

Neph's plea reminded me about growing up in the early 60s while living in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). A lot of our television was live which led to many funny and embarrassing moments. On Sundays, an announcer would read out the UK soccer results. On this particular occasion, poor, hapless Gerry Wilmot got to Hamilton Academicals and got the collywobbles. He just couldn't spit it out and we, the audience, were treated to what seemed an endless repetition of Hama-Hama-Hama, Hama-Hama-Hama. I think he just gave up in the end. Happy days!
