The fount is now a believer in the quest to re-establish true British values. Sunday to be Sunday again...NO shops open. Licencing laws back to the old ways ...12-2.30 on a Sunday...then 7.00-10.30...10.30-2.30 in the week, and 5.30-11.00...limit the number of supermarkets properly, strong borders with tests for all who wish to enter....no drinking in the streets...real Christmas and Easter...back to the real Britain...GREAT....!!!!

Is this the full list?

...and the 'full English' breakfast!

Fried egg, bacon, tomato and sausage. Plus a thick slice of black pudding and fried bread and/or a fried oat cake. And in Wales a dollop of lava bread too.

Not specific enough Dear, example: 'Ability to speak English'

...in fluent English? This condition would rule out 99.9999999999999999% of the resident UKey population.

What about Welsh, Scottish, N Irish, Cornish, IoW, and IoM culture?

Now The Funtoy's a believer.

I thought that English values was just a fairytale
Meant for the simple herd but not for me
Patriotism was out to get me
That's the way my paranoia seemed

Now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
Couldn't be unpatriotic if I tried...honest

Said I'm a believer, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Spin says:
Simon: This society was a much calmer place to live when there was no Sunday trading and the pubs closed at midnight, the clubs at 2am. Where I live the town is packed with people, cars and buses at 6am. I remember when 6am was considered to be the latter half of the night! And I agree with limiting the amount of industrial and commercial estates. They destroy the environment and take business away from small businesses. And if one cannot smoke tobacco or do drugs in public areas, then one should not be allowed to drink alcohol in public spaces either. A 24 hour, commercial, concrete jungle does nothing to develop the body and mind. It is not freedom, but the imprisoning of the individual.

OK, so let's follow through to a logical conclusion, howzabout we go back to Merrie Engerland: Feudalism, wattle and daub huts, rough woollen tunics, ale, oat turnip and nettle stew with pea shells, torture chambers and Crusades. True British values.

Is this the sort of English you will be looking for from would be immigrants to this green and pleasant land, in their 10 min conversation on English culture?

Charlieost says:
Hows about.....

A place to stay
"Oi! A real one ..."
Enough to eat
Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
Where you can speak out loud
About your doubts and fears
And what's more no-one ever disappears
You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door.
You can relax on both sides of the tracks
And maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
And everyone has recourse to the law
And no-one kills the children anymore.
And no one kills the children anymore.

Roger Waters. The Final Cut.

My favourite is black pudding. In fact it's the only bit of an English breakfast I really like, apart from toast and marmalade which isn't the cooked bit! Of course Islam forbids eating the blood of animals, so I'll have to search through the Koran for a get-out clause. You are allowed to eat forbidden foods if you have no choice, but we had a pork joint at the weekend, and I had really bad indigestion afterwards so perhaps that was a punishment as I could have bought a chicken and the family wouldn't have complained.
