David Groom says:
littlebunny,

'Winston Churchill was not English at all - he was 100% Jewish , as was Roosevelt of the USA at the time of WW2 . Germany was trying to surrender for months as was Japan - Neville Chamberlain did not want to go to War , and resigned after Winston Churchill promised he would NOT declare War on Germany but then turned the knife and did exactly that .'

If you intend to post something argumentative, at least make sure it is factually accurate. Being Jewish does not mean that you can be identified by nationality, so to speak of English and Jewish in the same breath as if you are somehow talking about identical things is fundamentally wrong.

As too is the idea that Churchill somehow declared war on Germany. He didn't - Chamberlain did, and then resigned some months later for political reasons associated with the retreat from Norway. Britain was, therefore, already at war with Germany when Churchill took over the premiership.

Thanks all for the laugh, it was fun to read. I have lived and worked in Mainland Europe now for over 20 Years, most of it in Germany.
The Germans have all but got over the two world wars because a. there is hardly anyone left who was alive then and old enough to remember anything. and b. the American war machine and its British followers have done so much Megalomaniac damage across the globe that the Nazi's are almost forgotten into insignificance. Just take a look at the wars since 1945 at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_1945%E2%80%931989 and note how many times the British flag appears, and check closer at how many times the Union Flag fails to appear where it should, because Britain either started, instigated, helped or armed it, and then stepped back looking all innocent. I have read about the atrocities in Germany from 33-45 and I am still here looking for my Grandfather's remains, But whilst in Bosnia 1991 I saw things that made the Nazi's look like naughty boys. So get over the Nazi thing too many others are far worse. And whilst we are on the subject the British Raj, British used chemical weapons in Mesopotamia in 1920, Mau Mau Revolt 1952. We're not exactly innocent, But don't tell the kids.

Not 100% accurate ... I assume that 'Nazi' is a shortened term of 'Ashkenazi' - if this is the case, the 'Ashkenazi' Jews name was derived from the medieval term for an area which encompassed Western Germany & Northern France, these Jews later spread out to Eastern Europe.

The word NAZI mean Nationalsozialismus in GERMAN.

Spin says:
Hitler and his minions vehemently opposed Socialism, but in order to gain the ear of a population concerned with the welfare of society, they adopted the title "National Socialist Workers Party", giving the impression that were somehow "socialist" in their ideology. This move was an attempt to increase party membership and had nothing to do with any desire on their part to introduce socialism to the party or the nation. (It was the first indication of the Nazis devious, cynical and dishonest intentions). The German "National Sozialismus" was shortened to "Na-Zi" by their opponents and was intended as an insult.

Marcus Laver says:
This obsession with the Nazis seems to be a peculiarly British mania. Even in Russia, which suffered (as the much bigger USSR) possibly as many as 27 million deaths in WW2 they don't keep harping on about it.

Marcus: Quite right. Turn on British TV at any hour and you are guaranteed to see some program, soap or documentary, about the "Bulldog Spirit" =) UK media does not consider the history of other nations as profitable products of either the license fee or those paying to place adverts... Nor does it care to educate ...TV was once access to great plays, comedies, tragedies, documentaries etc... Now it is no more than a business. And the British love seeing Nazis getting their arse kicked..

I am most assuredly British. Unfortunately the truth hurts - and the British government has rarely acted in the interests of the British people.

Marcus Laver says:
Hitler sells - people are fascinated by the Nazis because they were the only ones who questioned 'the system'. Even the USSR was financed from Wall Street (look up Armand Hammer for the details). The Nazis (and also Mussolini's Fascists) had no hidden controllers even if the British establishment financed Hitler in the early days hoping that he would rapidly destroy Germany. The gamble paid off in the end but it very nearly didn't because Hitler called their bluff. Stalin - always in the allied camp regardless of the phoney Ribbentropp pact - was going to attack Germany in July 1941, and a cakewalk to Berlin was expected - but he got a nasty shock.

Spin says:
Marcus: the reason folk today, in western, capitalist, materialist, scientific society are "fascinated" by the war against the Nazis is because their ideology and government are bordering on such thought. We need a reminder of what "nationalism" can lead to.., Guantanamo Bay is NOT a concentration camp...

That explains your interest in the Nazis then, Marcus. Best wishes.

Marcus Laver says:
National-Socialism was a racialist and socialist ideology, though not necessarily an ultra-nationalistic one - let's not forget that the Waffen SS recruited from all over Europe.

Modern Western governments are dominated by secret elites such as the 'Illuminati', Masons or whatever the hell they like to call themselves. The leaders of these groups get together at various meetings such as the Bilderberg ones and decide what policies should be implemented next. Presidents and Prime Ministers just follow the instructions of their paymasters.

Spin says:
Marcus: German "Nazism" was NEVER a "socialist" philosophy. Nazism has, however, crept into the "normal" "everyday" thoughts of us "ordinary" folk. But it ios not called "Nazism" anymore; it is called "Scientific progress".

I would find it difficult to select what a young person should or should not study. The bias for teaching history as how the wealthy, nobility and royals were involved while ignoring the remainder of the population. This is not only selective but leaves the lives of others out. It's best illustrated by the view of previous periods. The historical novels could make us believe that females all wore silk and jewellery. The fact there were more. Who worked down a pit with their children. We teach history without any regard for the majority.

Ian says:
Scottish primary schools seem to be taking a view that history should be about what life was like for ordinary people in Victorian times or during WW2 rather than focusing on major events. It's another side of history and in reality there needs to be a balance.

I was taught history by an elderly teacher, she projected a view of the Picts as being painted savages. Fifty years later a history professor argued, badly I thought that as the north of Scotland had no cities, there was no civilisation. He also denied Daniel Defoe was an English spy.

Helen: No. Scotlands allies are Ireland, Wales, France, the middle east and Africa. Englands ally is Northern America. Think about it.
