Charlieost says:
Hi Simon. Interesting questions. I guess we all have our feelings and interpretations of what constitutes a psychopath. The problem with reading up on any subject which is based on conjecture is I think that many of the so called experts will disagree as well. Then we could get into the issue of whether some people who are autistic could be considered psychopaths since they lack empathy. The whole area becomes very cloudy unless we all agree on the subject matter.

When someone goes beyond the thoughts into the actions then perhaps they could if caught be called a psychopath by the media. But this seems like a catch all phrase to describe someone who has commited some dreadful crime.

Perhaps you are not a psychopath Simon. You may just be a deviant. C

Stu says:
hi C my mates son is autistic, and if i told him that he would not be happy but also i would have to tell him that a psychopath also lacks emotional maturity which autistics also lack.so does that now make all autistic people around the world psychopaths?

Charlieost says:
No stu. I was just positing that as an example of the difficulty of defining a psychopath. C

Jack: "These people"? As opposed to "Us"? The lunacy is occurring outside the asylums, not within them.

Chaz. What "is" a deviant? Would you consider that the verb "to be" creates a problem when we are making semantic judgements about processes? To "freeze" the world by using identity labels like "psychopath" and "deviant" leads to a static view of life...ie verbs become nouns. This creates a false-to-fact neuro-semantic reality tunnel. Do you live in one of those Chaz?

Wolfpaw says:
No, no. That evil man has human rights after all. Unlike that poor child whose human rights he took away from her. The courts and defense team are there to ensure that his rights are enshrined, even though he put himself outside of society by murdering a babe.

Nicely put Wolfy...

Stu says:
Hi Wolfpaw, well if the killer takes the childs human rights away from her,his human rights should be taken away from him in my line of thought. You say yourself that he has put himself out of society,by murdering the poor child,so why should he keep his human rights? Wolfpaw would you say what you did in your post if it was your daughter murdered? I doubt it very much,i think you would have very different feelings altogether
